LOL. Unless Bob retires from trucking, you'll probably meet his partner, unless Bob happens to have a few days off. Try to contact him by PM on here. mtmadman. Let me know if you PM him & I'll tell him to check his mail on here I talk to him most evenings.

LOL James. This Bob is the nicest, most even tempered guy you could ever want to meet. I have no doubt that he could handle himself in a fight, but chances are that he'd tell you to back off, then turn & walk away from you.
Tell your wife that he usually has his shirt on. He'd been hauling buckets of rocks out of my shed on a hot day. It was about 120 degrees inside the shed. I can tell you one thing. If this had been the Bob she went rock hunting with, she wouldn't forget the experience. She'd still be laughing. He has a great sense of humor, and love to make others laugh. Never a dull moment around him.

Just a guess, but polished they may look like these. These came from within a hundred miles or so of your area.

LOL. So did my wife, until I opened one up & showed her that the gutts & bones were still inside. She hasn't touched a can of my sardines since.

I'll pass on the anchovies Ed. Love sardines in mustard sauce though. Don't think I have any sardonyx, with or without mustard sauce. I'd have to check buckets in my shed after spring thaw.

I've heard of it being done. On another forum we had a lady member who attached slabs to the outside of a plexiglass backing, spackled between the slabs and used it as the back splash in her kitchen. The whole works was backlit. Last I heard, she was doing the same in her bathroom. Unfortunately that forum no longer exists, or I'd post links for you to see her work.

Lots of agatized wood in Montana. It looks like your piece was partially rotted away before agatization started. Very nice shelf specimen.
There are several types of agates found in Montana. Many have nothing to do with wood replacement. The famous Montana moss agate is just one of the "other types".

SirRocksalot, those are heavy aluminum castings from the days before throw away builds came into being. Right now mine is down for new press in oilite bronze bushings & a rewire job. The previous owner had spliced the wires in several places, and just taped them off. I'm going to run all new wires & add a 3rd wire for ground.

Just a guess. I'm thinking the diamonds were at one time fluorite crystals which dissolved as the agate was forming. The fluorite was replaced with clear agate. The included crystals would be a pseudomorph, agate after fluorite. I wouldn't go any further with that agate until I found out just how rare it is. You may have a museum piece there.

Actually when you think of it, the seller is doing a big service for the buyer by leaving sold items listed. I've found when buying minerals & fossils that most sellers send a label with all of the important information about the specimen. However a few won't send that information. Being able to go back to the original listing has allowed me to retrieve that information and print my own specimen label. It may be a little bit of inconvenience for prospective buyers, but it's a win/win for the person who bought that specimen.
(It also lets you create a list of sellers who don't send info with their specimens. You know who to avoid in the future).

LOL. Bob looks fat in the pic, but that's all muscle. Below what appears to be a beer belly is a 34" waist. I know because I'm tooling a new leather belt for him. He gets his nickname Littlefoot from his size 7-1/2 feet below his 5' 8-1/2" frame. When he was in the Army Rangers, they had to have his jump boots special made because of his small feet.

Thank you kind sir. I have this posted on 2 other forums as well, and Bob's business partner is taking care of promoting the business on facebook.
Hope all of you have a chance to meet Bob sometime in the future. He's an all around nice guy, and a hell of a lot of fun to be around.

Unfortunately not at this time Pat. I think his partner is working on opening an ebay account. I'll contact him & see if he has plans for a website when I catch him on facebook. For those who are on facebook, Bobs partner Jay has been posting a lot of pics of material they have for sale on his home page. www.facebook.com/jay.vermillion.71

Welcome aboard Norman.
No worries about Bobs health. He's an ex Army Ranger & keeps himself in top health. Every time he has a few hours or days between hauling loads, he's out hiking, looking for rocks. He regularly hauls out 40 & 50 pound boulders over several miles of rough ground. He gets plenty exercise between truck runs, And usually eats good meals when he stops for the night.

I picked that one up at an estate sale for about $25.00. They were made somewhere around the 70's. Don't see them often, but they do show up on ebay from time to time. Usually without the set of different sized cups.

I think those tumbler motors may be a little underpowered for 2" spheres. I have a small 2 head machine with a pair of small gear head motors that will handle up to about 1-1/4" spheres. I'll add a pic of the machine in a minute.

Also prevents having to relist the item if the buyer decides not to pay. Eventually after the item is shipped, the seller will take it down. And some sellers only do it part time, while holding down a full time job elsewhere.
I'm with Pat. I like the listing being left up for a while. It lets me check to see what similar items are selling for, so I can decide just how bad I want a piece of that material.

If it's a big enough rock & somebody hits you in the head with it, it has the power to knock you out.
