Rich, I think the secrets to a good swirl are to allow yourself enough wire, about an inch a swirl, to use one motion, start to finish, to make it and steady pressure, don't lightenn your pressure as you swirl. There you have it how to swirl, in a nut shell.
Thank you all so much, I have been trying to think outside the box lately. I think that over all my wraps will be better for it. Again, thank you for your positive comments.

I just made the middle wire longer and bent it into the ear wire, either the post or the french style wires.

Hi Tammy Those look really neat. What gauge wire did you use and is it possible to show a picture of the ear hook side? Tommy, I used 22ga wire for these, as for the ear wires, yes I can take a photo of the wires. On this pair I made a 'french wire'. You could make a simple loop at the top and add a premade ear wire, or you could make a post ear wire, if that is what. You prefere. I will post photos after a bit. Thanks for the comments everyone, Tammy

Today I wrapped three pairs of earrings, two in copper and one in gold, each style is slightly different. Hope you enjoy. First set, copper with loops at top and bottom Second set, copper without loops, slightly smaller size. Third set, gold, smallest set. OK, here are the photos of the ear wires plus a new smaller set with posts. and the smallest set with posts So, what do you think? Tammy

Great wraps!! At first I couldn't understand what you were talking about with the agate, but the pictures made sense. Does it let in much light, do you think? Is it comfortable to wear? Tela, I was surprized at how much light it did let in, I will wrap another piece of the same agate with out the extentions and then I will take photos of myself wearing them and see what the difference is. As far as comfort, they are just as comfortable to wear as any other pendant is to wear. I did straighten up the wraps and wires on the wrap with the extentions so it looks better then the original photo. As far as a step bezel goes, I guessit could be kind of like that, but I don't know anything about silver smithing. Thanks for looking, Tammy

Has anyone else noticed how flat an agate looks when it is wire wrapped and laying on your chest. So I was thinking that there must be a solution and this is what I came up with. I decided that I would extend the wraps at the bottom and along the sides of the wrap, I checked out my scrap wire and found some small pieces wire and then folded them over so that they where sturdy. When I was finished and put it on, it was totally different then any other agate I have ever wrapped. Ok, so my photo would not load, I will add photos in a hour or so. OK, here are the photos of the extensions that I added to the wrap wires. Front Back New wraps Tigers Eye in Gold Unknown, maybe Crazy Lace? Another unknown Tiger Iron Bruno in Gold Agate Jasper Agate/Jasper Hope you enjoyed the show, Tammy

I had the staples removed today, 54 of them in all. There was a gal in the Drs. office that had arthroscopic knee surgery the same day as my replacements and she could hardly move. Chassroc, I used to be athletic, but the last five years I have just been in a lot of pain. I think that the five year chemo drug that I was on after my breast cancer had something to do with my knees losing all of the cartilage inside. The warning on the drug said it has a side effect of joint pain. I feel very lucky to have the care that I received and to feel so well in just this short amount of time since the surgery. I am now riding a stationery bicycle and doing a lot of walking.
Roy thanks for the offer to send me some cabs, I really appreciate the thought, besides you can never have too many cabs.
Thank you all for the well wishes,
Tammy

Well, now that I am on my way to recovery I thought that I would post and let you all know how I was doing. My surgery was on the 14th, it lasted about 6 and 1/2 hours. I was in the hospital until Friday and then I went home, my husband is here to help me. I have a bed in the living room,I am still not able to do flights of stairs and the bedrooms are upstairs. PT is going very well, I am in less pain now then I was before the surgery. Tomorrow I have the staples removed from my knees, 54 of them in all. I have been beading and wire wrapping, I wrapped 8 pieces over the weekend, I will post photos a little later.

Hello all and Happy New Year. Hope that everyone's year is going well and that it stays that way through out the year. As for me, can I say busy, busy, busy. My kids bought me round trip airplane tickets to California for Christmas. I returned on Tuesday and on Wednesday I went to the Orthopedic Surgeon. We discussed scheduling a double total knee replacement surgery. When I was leaving his office I was told it would be 2 to 4 weeks before it would be scheduled because we had to wait for the pre-authorization and they would be in touch. I received a call on Thursday afternoon asking if I was available to schedule my surgery for Tuesday afternoon. WHAT? I thought that they said 2 to 4 weeks, the nurse said that she worked really hard to get the insurance companies approval because she had a cancellation for Tuesday. I jumped on it. So Tuesday, January 14, 2014 I am going in for surgery, having both knees replaced. I will be in the hospital for 4 to 6 days, then probably rehab for a couple of weeks. Hopefully I will be wrapping the entire time but I will not be able to get to the basement to cut any cabs. I am hoping I will have time to be lurking on the board, we will see.
Hoping for the best,
Tammy

I have done a few of those myself and I do it the same way Tela does, you just have to remember that one side of the bail might be shorter then the other, you just have to compensate and make it shorter so that the bail is even at the top or else it will hang funny.
