I am going for the Ravens, since our last name is Byrd and I am the 'cute chick' and my husband is the 'old crow' I think that he wants the Ravens as well, lol
As far as the score,
Ravens - 18 49er's - 14
Thanks for the contest, and such a great prize.

Guess I got a really good deal with 3/4 of a 5 gallon bucket for $16. Lots of nice flash, I will add a couple of photos a little later.

Brass welding rod or aluminum knitting needle. Both short enough so as they don't get in the way.

Hey Mario, flush cutters, good flush cutters are a requirement, just about, lol. But do you know the correct way to use them? there is a flush side and an angled side. The flat side of the 'flush' cutters should always be against the piece that you are working on. I still file the edges when I get down to the final cut of the wire, but before I curl it or hide it inside something.
Hope this helps, Tammy

Kurt,
Yes, I did assume that the design would be finished as shown.

Kurt,
This is how I would do it, I would outline the wings and figure eight under the agates, and then make the pin go from between the two wings on the left to in between the two wings on the right, with the tail down. I think that it is a possibility. Let me know if you think it is worth thinking about.

What I was thinking was going under the body and across the wingspan from underneath, almost like what you have done there except that it might go wider on the wing to make the pin. the pin would be made out of the same wire that would be used to wrap the Dragonfly with not a stick on pin that you buy from a jewelry supplier.
Let me do some doodling and get back to you.
Good luck what ever you decide.

It looks like a Jasper/Agate that I collect in the mouth of the Columbia River, on the Wa side.

Great piece.
What about wire work with a wire pin? It would depend on how it was wrapped as to how it would hang. Do you know how much it weighs? I could draw up some different ideas, if you would like me to.

Mark, The box is on it's way!!!! Oh, I know you have heard that a hundred times. I will PM you the confirmation number. BTW it is another large flat rate box, maybe you can transition it to a medium. So sorry for the delay.

Well for one you do not know how much you have, what I have bought of this same stone is sold by the gram. I think that you are going to have to work your rough to see how big of a piece of Opal that is, how deep it runs or if there are any dead spots in the flash. I just broke up a large rock of Spencer Opal and have a piece of flash that is about three inches wide by two inches tall, it is a great looking piece of Opal.
Good luck,
Tammy

Also I know that the thickness of the slab has a bit of say on the girdle, but like all of these guys have said, the smaller the girdle, the less wire the wrap takes. I wrap most of my cabs with three wires, thicker or larger cabs I wrap with a minimum of four wires. The ga of the wire also helps, a large cab with thin ga wire looks a little funny.
I hope that you can glean some help out the responses that you get.
