Gorgeous work. I particularly like the way you wrapped the unnamed triangle.

Nice idea, starting a tread like that. Just annoying that some people can't stay away from their political views........ Lets bring it back to the original idea: Picture taken recently by a young friend... Wild Boar kenneth lam by Kainzer Kurt, on Flickr

I never say who I vote for, as it can cause hard feelings with some. Should not, but it does. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) That's why we usually left comments on the original post..... ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

So that means while there is a "salt-circle", our consumption is small enough to avoid a finite termination point for salt?

And yet, even "Real" salt comes with an expiry date. Funny enough, I was just talking about salt to my hiking partner today, and neither of us could come up with an explanation as to how salt came to be. Considering that salt is pretty much in everything on this planet, we concluded that, just like water, there is no change in quantity of this substance on the planet. But then the question was raised as to how it formed. ![???](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/huh.png) ?

I think the idea of the poll is to place your vote, anonymously. No need to let everyone know who you vote for. Yep, but what happened over the years with using it as a teachable moment by leaving reasons for voting one way or another? Same for the actual contest page.... (zero comments for the month?). Contests where such a lively page to be on,.... now?

Waaayyy too many favorites to choose from I'm particularly enticed by some of the cabs that follow natural outlines, but also some of the others. Very strong colours, so pure rock heaven drool factor.

Blown out of the water Kurt...!!!!!!! "Shattered Not Broken"...So many thoughts come to mind with those words!!!! Tears, anger,a bit of happiness through the darkness of life! Can I share these words Kurt? I have an idea..... Some day you will see them on F/B ,with a completion of pure poetry........... Absolutely. Yes, the whole gamut of emotions are implied, and left for the observer to interpret. I just simply focused on inner strength. Looking forward to your eloquent writing.

Absolutely adore Pietersite and Tabu. First one looks like a map. Maybe could be converted into display-piece and have names added? ![???](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/huh.png)

I have just dabbled, destroyed and finished one so far. Here is the one that I finished, not much. Jim Dont beat yourself up just because you found little fire. Working the matrix can result in absolutely stunning cabs too.

Thank you everyone. That is beautiful and the meaning behind it made me cry. ❤ No reason to cry, its just about observations in retro-respect. In my short time here, I have had many more female friends than males, and somehow have ended up with female bosses for most of my working life too (most of whom I call friends). Looking back, it seems that while male acquaintances very often responded to problems with alcohol- and even drug-abuse, female acquaintances where always more likely to turn misfortunes around by burying themselves either in work, or quietly absorbed the blows with inner strengths that I can only admire. Some of my bosses where of the kind that buried themselves in work. I might have hated them even at times then for their insistence of the way things had to be done . Yet, now 30+ years later, I find myself in gratitude to them as they where the ones that gave me certain habits and independence that have served me throughout my life thus far. Your carvings are always incredible, and this one is extra special! For a simple hobbyist maybe. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) But while I'm ok with the things that reach the finish-line, I see way to many really gifted artists around that are in a completely different class, in order to be really happy about any piece of mine. Naturally, that's a good thing, as it will always be an incentive to try again and again, and hopefully get good enough to get to that standard eventually.

The stone more than the carving, represents the at times shattering experiences that a lot of women go through, and yet they manage to overcome, in spite of it all. Shattered Not Broken by Kainzer Kurt, on Flickr For a change, a theme that comes from life. Indonesian Pawancawarna (literally means 5 colours but not every stone has them )a mixture of jasper, agate and opal often dissected by copper-sheets in the "healed" cracks. Shattered Not Broken by Kainzer Kurt, on Flickr The start Shattered Not Broken by Kainzer Kurt, on Flickr Disaster Shattered Not Broken by Kainzer Kurt, on Flickr Thats usually the end of it, and due to my personal distaste for things glued back together would normally just get abandoned and tossed out, but here it just re-enforces my personal reason for the theme. This particular stone contains something that no other stone can give me. SNB refers in my mind to "Shattered not Broken", in remembrance to a few women for whom words of thanks and/or admiration can not express what I truly see in them. I have had extremely strong women guiding me along my life and I'm keenly aware of their presence in who I am today. AND I'm not talking only about mother or wife. But gluing means it needs a supporting background: US Palm-Wood Shattered Not Broken by Kainzer Kurt, on Flickr Side by side Shattered Not Broken by Kainzer Kurt, on Flickr Not completely done, but nothing will really change to affect pictures. Needs a proper polish and background a little more sanding. And maybe try lowering it deeper into background. Shattered Not Broken by Kainzer Kurt, on Flickr As said before: The stone more than the carving, represents the at times shattering experiences that a lot of those women went through, and yet they held it together in spite of it all and in my case, made me stronger too. For a lot of them, I was there just by chance to witness, and at the time might not have given them the respect they deserved. But looking back, its incredible what they achieved against the odds, in themselves, in me, and others.

Wow, a pretty penny right here. Too many to list that I like here, but the ones I like best are the second bone and Crown of silver.
