there is a lot of stuff that can be collected in the Kingman area for rock hounds . Fire agate is found over most of the black mountains from Yuma to Las Vegas but is concentrated in pockets . There are also chalcedony desert roses , banded rhyolite , squigley jasper , bowenite , granate , quartz , and who knows what the last floods brought in . Burro creek is about 60 miles from kingman and the stuff found there varies . most of the areas i would recommend 4 wheel drive unless you dont mind hiking. For those of you visiting the turquoise mine store , i am only about 10 miles away and you go by a rock shop on the way . I am happy to let you dig in my rock piles if you dont have the time for extended hunting as long as im not at the doctors . I also have a lot of slabs and drop offs i will be very reasonable on if there is any interest. Wayne

i have been going done into Burro creek area for over 10 yrs and still have thousands of acres to explore . we used to go 2 or 3 times a month before i got sick . The comment above about parking and picking up rock under the truck is true in several places

the style that is on Ebay that Jason posted works very well . for anyone that has the old Ideal saw/ saws made in Kingman Az , the 20 and 24 actually have a slab grabber built into the vice

these rocks look a lot like Travertine onyx found down by Mayer Arizona that is mined for many things . Counter tops, sinks , pillars and a bunch of other things . I have some scrap i have cabbed and made spheres out of and it takes a decent polish
