Somebody around here raises game birds to release for hunting or to keep the populations high here. Last year I was spooking around( looking for rocks, what else) on a gravel trail in a county maintained area and was accosted by a female turkey who clucked and showed signs of being thrilled to see me. Every time I walked away from her she called to me and followed just like a dog. There are hunting camps nearby so I suppose somebody could have been raising her and she just strayed away from camp. ? ? ? This year in a State park close to me, there is a partridge hen who greets the car and follows the occupants, obviously thinking we have something for her. If you are gonna raise them to release in the wild, wouldn't it be a great idea not to let them imprint on humans? Have heard woodcock is tasty but never had the opportunity to try it.

Love those! On the first photo of your green banded rock, I am interested in seeing what the little formation near the base of your index finger is. Might be a clue to what the rest of it is. Can you do a closeup of that area of the rock (wet?) ? yeah, breccias are still my favorites, but the others here are pretty darn interesting. Last one makes me think of a piece of ham that might have been left out of the fridge a bit too long... good and good looking, interesting finds!

a traditional dais for the suiseki would display it at the angle you want, use wood and carve the bottom of the display to contain the rock and even out the wobbliness, even elevate one end or the other. It would look good with just a very small rim... very neat piece. I like the others shown here too, and so cool about the fluorescence... Don that face agate is an all time score... a true classic!

we've got those too! Silly looking little devils, about as dumb as a tree. Interesting though. I came across one on a gravel road not long ago, he was so busy stamping his feet and watching ants come up out of the ground that he did not notice my car. I parked and he never noticed me until I was within a few feet of him, shooed him out of the road (he flew off immediately once he saw me) and went on my way.
