the snakeskin pattern in #3 is beyond awesome. What a bunch of great finds. Is #4 an allusion to # 3 or did you see THAT while hunting as well? number 5 sparks the imagination- what the heck? Its really an interesting combo of colors and pattern. tell me more about it?

absolutely gem quality. I'd hate to have to choose between them, they are both gorgeous! The first makes me think of the colors of iridescences in abalone. Is it opalized? The second could compare favorably with tiffany's stained glass. just beautiful. Thanks for the post.

not so sure about the granite. as it happens, it has been soaking in iron out for a while. boy was it stained. Still is, but I can see the underlying colors are light to dark green (like the blue green of some basalt)and micro fine grained, and the seams are either clear or white quartz stuff. looks like a brecciated layered argillite with the silt layers being light and dark green. Then that seems to have been infilled with thick clear silica which picked up the staining. .

friend just bought a chunk of good turquoise at $30 an ounce. If the stuff is decent, there is value there alright, maybe worth going after.

local is always the most interesting to me. I love seeing what everybody picks up in his or her own neck of the woods. Love the color and varity here. That last epidosite is like ice... all good!

cool! I am thinking I need to ask Santa for a grinder polisher this year. If I can't cut my larger rocks ( no saws at my house) I'll polish them silly. I'd for sure find a showplace for that piece, front and center. Some other shelf queens can stop hogging the show and step back a bit for that beauty!
