The slab on left in first picture looks like hematite & jasper. The one on the right in the first picture looks like Ocean Jasper. Lynn

Tommy is talking about the flakes falling in the RTH site. I guess they'll be going away soon. Time to take the Christmas tree & lights down too I guess. Lynn

Well, I have a jack hammer...his name is Scott S or Shotgunner. All you have it do is buy him some beer. HA Also, my dad is a no show and there goes my ride but I have other ways to get there, maybe. If I start walking (or whatever) now, I should be there in time. I will keep you up to date on what's going on. But I will find a way to get there. If you don't try, you will never win. There's the metaphysical power of rocks. They've got Dale walking! And I just thought rocks were chick magnets. Everytime I'm wearing one of my pendants in Walmart a couple of old ladies compliment me on the stone. Lynn

There is tent camping at the RV park connected to Desert Gardens. It's run by the people who rent space to vendors at DG. I've camped there about 4 different years. Tent camping used to be at the southern edge of their property, but they moved it to the west side of their property, fairly close to Love's gas station. It's $10 per tent. They have $.50 showers (2 in the men's bathroom, not sure about women's). There can be quite a wait for the shower. They also have a swap-a-book library with a couple of couches and a table. There's a stove, sink & microwave, which we have put to good use. Laundry too. Lynn Are you going this year Lynn? Haven't decided yet. I told my wife I'd just buy more rock, and I've already got 17 lifetimes worth. She said she just wants to be able to wear a T-shirt & sandals in January. If we do come, it'll be during the Pow Wow & Tony's BBQ. Lynn

Any thoughts on tent camping? I know there is lots of BLM land for RV boondockers but tent camping kind of need to find showers and WC’s. The cold I can handle but dirt gets old after a day or so. I heard a rumor that John Bennet (Aussie guy with rough and Chinese saw blades) was going to retire from Q soon. Anyone know if he’ll be at Desert Gardens in 2018? Lynn

herchenx - John, I can't help your friend with Kentucky agates but, It's good to hear that you're still alive. I bet the ranch is taking all of your spare time. I hope you still get to do rock related things. Merry Chrysocolla & Happy New rocks! Lynn

I love so many jaspers. Many have been named above.
I'm partial to the cream of the crop of what I collect myself. I make it a point to sell its beauty and self-collected history.
Much of what I cab was acquired with no provenance, or collected in a place without a high-profile name. When trying to sell such cabs or pendants, I explain where it was found and explain how rare, beautiful, or unique this type of plume agate or picture Jasper is. I talk about Nature's color palette.
Some people and things are beautiful without being famous. Lynn

That's not leather, but diamond powder mixed with some goop to suspend the particles. The surface slowly wears away, exposing diamonds. The varying colors are used to distiguish the different grits.
Is there a spongy material under the surface? That would allow you to push the cab into the wheel so it "drapes" around the cab, helping to eliminate flat spots. Lynn

Tommy That's got a lot going for it! Lots of color. I can't wait to see cabs from it. You found better material than people who have been hounding there for years. Lynn

kk, I really love your fire agates. You photos make me want to try my hand at carving. I have a few pieces with fire that I've scratched the surface with my Foredom. Maybe 2018 will be the year! Lynn
