TheRock, Nice finds. Someday I'd love to hound the Great Lakes. It seems that coincidences follow me around. I was going to comment on how your avatar photo looks something like Stephen Stills. Then I discovered your name is Duke. In the song "Cowboy Movie" from David Crosby's album "If I Could Only Remember My Name" the character "Duke - kind of mean & from the south" is Stephen Stills. Also the image on your video "Rock Hunting Lake Michigan" reminds me of the "If I Could Only Remember My Name" album cover. Hmmm Lynn

That's the coolest Coprolite I've ever seen! I don't think there's going to be a shortage of Coprolite. I'd only buy it when it's high quality. There's a lot of shit out there! Lynn

Sometimes I glue the finished top of the cab to a dop stick with superglue. I then flatten the back on the lap or wheel. Put it in a sealed jar of acetone for a few hours to a full day will dissolve the glue Lynn

Tommy That's one of the coolest examples of Tiffany stone I've ever seen! I love those concentric rings. It would be hard to decide between cabbing & leaving it as a specimen. The MHPJ ain't too shabby either. Where is this shop? Lynn

That's sweet material. Never seen it before. Can't wait to see the cab(s). And it's from Lexington Reservoir! I used to ride my mtn. bike there. I never found anything but driftwood. Lynn

Tommy Nice slabs. I'd call it moss. Fractures are the name of the game for Holt. Most of what we collect is on or close to the surface, so the freeze/thaw cycle rears its ugly fractures. I can't wait to see cabs from those slabs. The white/pink/red combo is nice. Lynn

I love Cuban food. Most Walmarts in the west sell Platanos. We make Tostones & Maduros in our home. Along with Congri (Morros y Cristianos) & Yucca. Lynn

My biggest rock regrets are that I never got to see Led Zeppelin in concert before Bonham died ... and Lynyrd Skynyrd before Ronnie died - or Pink Floyd in their prime. There are times I seriously wish I had a time machine. I wish I could go back to 1977 and explain to this 13 year old stoner that the Day on the Green concerts in Oakland featuring Skynyrd or Zeppelin were not to be missed under any circumstances... Oh well. My first concert was Led Zeppelin at Kezar Stadium, San Francisco 1973. Houses of the Holy tour. I left at the "end", not knowing about encores. I heard 2 more songs on the way to the car. I saw Lynyrd Skynyrd at the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds, Feb 1974. I remember about 27 guys playing guitars onstage during Freebird. How many guitars does a band need? On the bill were Manfred Mann & Uriah Heep. Maybe another band too. I saw Pink Floyd at the Cow Palace in May(?) of 1975. They did Dark Side of the Moon in its entirety & Shine on You Crazy Diamond before the album Wish You Were Here came out. Lynn

Great pieces lynn. Those plume pieces are incredibly rare to find. Did you fill any pits on these? Thanks, Don. There's a little epoxy in some fractures, but I left surface pits alone. Too hard to fill the small ones. BTW, I'm taking Fri Sep 22nd off work. melhill1659 and her sister will be here from Mississippi. We will be hounding at Holt Canyon if anyone wants to join us. Lynn

coloradocliff, I always have good intentions of taking pictures to share with the homebound masses, but I end up just drooling & buying & forget to click away. Maybe I'll do better this time. Lynn

Lynn, Just love the Holt Canyon, red jasper with chalcedony healing. I have seen many of your great cabs finished in more sophisticated style but the simple drilled hole with the cord really does put the stone front and center. Twice the work doing both sides but surely does it for me. What type of cord is that you are using? Maybe catch you around Denver if you are there at the show Wednesday or Thursday. If not maybe cross your path in Moab. Be safe, Cliff Bet Rich, sometimes Dale and always wigglinrocks is going to like your approach too. I use 1.5mm waxed cotton cord. Yes, my wife & I are hitting the road tomorrow to be at the Denver shows Thurs - Sat. We'll be at the Mart on Thurs for the bead show & International Gem show. Not sure how the rest of the days will go. Siezure later, epileptic! Lynn

Wow, that Holt canyon stuff is beautiful! It reminds me of stuff I've found in the Cady Mountains. Yeah, I've seen Cadys material that look similar. Gotta get out there & hound one of these days. Lynn

I fee very fortunate to be able to collect world-class material so close to home. The following Cedar City agate was about 10 mins from home. The Holt Canyon jasp/agate & plume agates are found about an hour away. I cut my best material double-sided & put it on a cord. It's a pretty simple way to make the stone the star. I was going through a bucket in my yard & found a big chunk of Holt Canyon jasp/agate that I don't remember finding, well vaguely. It's one of the best pieces of Holt material I've seen. It's a 15lb chunk that I must have dug, because that size isn't lying around on the surface. I rarely dig; I mostly surface collect. It's relatively fracture free. Most Holt material is fracture city. The outer edges have the best plumes & colors. I'll be cutting this chunk for years! Cedar City dendritic agate Cedar City agate with a little of what we call Fingerprint agate on the tip. Bummer that this piece has some obvious fractures. This is the cream of the crop for Cedar Cosmo agate. The blobs are very 3-Dimensional. More translucent Cedar City Cosmo agate. This one has four surfaces & is shaped kind of like an Italian Horn from the 70's. A sweet piece of Holt Canyon jasp/agate. This Holt Canyon jasp/agate has awesome plumes & even a bit of green. I'm keeping this one! From the big chunk. More Holt Canyon plumes. From the big chunk. More Holt Canyon plumes. From the big chunk. More Holt Canyon plumes. From the big chunk. Holt Canyon jasper from a small chip. Holt Canyon Bloody Broccoli plume jasper. Hey I can make up my own names, right? From a small piece that yielded a few cabs. Thanks for looking. Lynn
