zarguyHey Lynn, 12 Years For Gods sakes man. . Step away from Zar and be sociable. Good thing I'm busy a running a business and have a bunch of other hobbies or would have embarrassed you worse. grin. Need to have a show over in Colorado. Cool here. Thought that you had a Picasso boulder you were going to tell me you were sending Rac Transport. Grin coloradocliff, I keep wondering where you get the time to post so much. I thought you had a nursery to run. I do have a show July 7-9 in Durango. It's put on by the local rock club. It'll be my first time. Just hop on that Million Dollar Highway & come on down! Lynn

Nice rough! You sure pulled out a sweet cab! I heard a while back that picasso jasper was getting hard to get with some saying it was rare. Any truth to that? The original mine has been reclaimed and filled in. Still lots of float to be found but really nice stuff is hard to find. This is the site that the RTH group visited this spring. Dave Penney has 2 of his own picasso stone claims and mines them. He offers a "dark" picasso and a "light" picasso. I bought these 2 pieces of rough out of his "light" picasso pile of rough. This stuff is much harder than the original mine stuff and takes a great polish, even the lighter colors which usually undercut badly in the original mine stuff. He owns the rock shop in Beaver UT. I'd highly recommend his rough. If he decides to stop mining it, commercial availability of the good picasso rough will become very hard to come by. When we had the RTH get together here in So. Utah in May, we went to the reclaimed mine. It has been bulldozed & covered over, but that didn't stop any of us from getting great material. I showed a photo on one of the related threads of a 15lb or so chunk I found right next to where orrum was sitting. I think you need to have orrum along as a good luck charm, though. Lynn

You went to Oregon & that's all the rocks you brought home? Shame. I dream of rockhounding in Oregon. I hope I do better than that! Lynn LOL (sorry-2) Well it was more of a vacation with a shopping trip thrown in at the Madras show - but my "official" excuse is I have so much dang Utah rock after our trip to your house I've got to be careful what I drag home for a while We're will be moving in a year or few and I'm already facing a major rock moving operation Nobody forced you to remove all of those rocks from Utah & transport them to Calif. Just digitize your rocks, store them in the cloud & then download them when you move. Of course some of the technology for doing so is still in its infancy. Lynn

Thanks for the trip report & pictures. Aren't you some kind of rockhund? I didn't see a single agate or jasper. I guess with scenery like that, who needs to see some dumb rocks. Lynn

welcome from Cedar City, Utah. Some people say "I'm retired & need to find a hobby". It looks you don't need to find a new one. Rockhounding & lapidary keep you physically fit & out in the sunshine. But you know that! Enjoy your rocks & this forum. There are good people here. Lynn

One question about the pump being on when the motor is on. I always heard/read that I was supposed to run the wheels with the water off for awhile when I finished using them. This aids in drying them. Supposedly, water left on the wheel after use all goes to the bottom of the wheel (gravity) and the wet area is bad for the wheel? Maybe the real cabbers here can chime in on wheel drying. I don't use mine often enough to have personal experience on such. But I do run them to dry after I do use them. Love the build, very creative. Thinking you are going to want shut off valves though so you can wet one wheel at a time. Silicon carbide wheels soak up some water, so need to be spun dry. Modern metal & resin wheels don't need it. Lynn

Never seen the show. Never seen Seinfeld, Friends, or any of those sit-coms from the 70s, 80s, etc. I never watched MTV. Didn't have cable & the friends I hung out with liked to do other things than sit in front of the TV. It pains me to see how much electronic entertainment people soak up today. Lynn

Wooferhound, I'm in a similar boat. My Lenovo laptop running XP is over 10 years old. It max's out at 3 Gigs of RAM, & has lots of issues. I've ordered a refurb Lenovo W530 on eBay that has Win 7 Pro 64-bit installed. It has 8 Gigs of RAM installed & can go up to 32. It has an i7 processor with other desirable specs. $400 including shipping. Seller with 100% positive ratings. It's on the FedEx truck & I will have it today! It arrived while I was typing this. I have great hopes that it will solve all of the issues I've been dealing with for far too long. Now to find Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop CS6. I don't want a subscription to Creative Cloud. Lynn
