You got that right Chromenut! Once you check in, just try to walk around, anywhere, and not look down at every rock you see and not wonder what it will look like once you cut and polish up! Welcome Skeeter, and all others to this great site!

Wow! Once again, you've released more beauty into the world. Long after we're all gone. people will turn these over in their fingers and wonder out loud what kind of magic was used to produce such exquisite jewels. That O.J. is out of this world. Keep em' comin' Stoner. I salute you!

Sometimes I like to put them, the best of the load, into small wooden treasure chests that I buy at Michael's. The chests are inexpensive and you can stain them and line the inside with stick-on felt, also found at Michael's. You can open the chest up and spill them, gently, onto a piece of velvet when you want to show them off.

OK Roller, I've looked at that ghost over and over. It looks so real. It's a little scary, but also quite spiritual. There is power in that stone. The artist's presence is reflected, permanently, in the stone for those with eyes to see. Very Cool! -Chris.

Hi Irene. Welcome from Southern California. I understand Spain is beautiful. Well, as the others have said, you've come to the right place. I'm fairly new here and find the entire site facinating. I did not know there were so many of us in the world. It's so great in this modern world that we still find nature, and especially geology, so interesting and even new. Welcome! -Chris.

Hello Ryan. Welcome to a very cool site. As a granite worker and artist you will be amazed how far people have taken this 'fine art' aspect of stonework. If you can find or buy rocks large enough to slab into tiles, that is another road you might enjoy. Check out the Nevada Royal Jasper website. They are mining some huge jasper boulders and I think making tiles with some of them. Good luck and again, welcome! -Chris.

I don't know you yet, but would like to. Yours is some of the finest work I've ever seen. I understand the meaning of your user name, Mr. Stoner! You and the stone are one, and I can only hope to attain such heights. The 4th one down looks, to me, like a nice left breaking wave on an offshore day with a storm just about to crack onto the land. Very, very nice! -Chris.

Attention all newbies! Yes you can! It will take some time to reach the beautiful heights that Rollingstone has achieved. Follow his recipes and practice, practice, practice. Practice on regular rocks, such as beach or river rocks. And get a good feel for your machine(s). Learn to listen for changes in the sound of the tumbling stones and they will tell you themselves when they need another charge or when they're ready to move to the next grit. Can't say enough about using plastic beads in the final stages,(from 'fine' or 'pre-polish' on. Even during 'burnish' stage). You don't want to go all that way and then have em crackin' into each other during 'polish'.

Yes, Lortones run hot. As everyone can attest, this is normal. Just make sure the motor is getting good ventilation and they will run for years. -Chris.
