Wow, that looks really good, Chuck. When you say "hand polished" do you mean with no motorized tools, or do you mean that it wasn't done in a tumbler? Either way, it looks great. Now you need a big pudding stone to be its buddy on your desk. I was wondering that myself.

Not even interested! Seen it in 1979,it got dark for a few minutes, than it was back to work... It will be total crazy here with the eclipse yahoos hoarding in our town! It will double in size, create traffic hazards,no fuel, groceries will be slim pickings and crime will jump up....NO THANKS!! We are just staying home from the mess.. Nothing but money hungry people making a profit off of nature!! you know, I'm not that interested either really, I'll be at work and someone bought a pack of glasses, so I'll probably run out rq and look, but eh, there will be better video and pictures on the net. In a time long long ago as a teen I saw Halley's comet through some nice persons telescope, yup this blurry image through the lens, was exciting as it sounds too.

Been doing a bit of remodeling and left a few scraps of drywall out in the rain last night. Got me to wondering if small chunks would work as a thickener. Might try it later today when I do a cleanout/recharge. Anyone have any thoughts or experience? interesting question, I don't think it will harden like spackle, you could mix some in a can and see I guess.

Do you know how they came up with the name Canada? The settlers all gathered around, put all the letters of the alphabet in a hat and drew them out, one at a time C-aye, N-aye, D-aye.......

President of the club said it's pink feldspar and epidode (the veins) So it should take a polish I think. Could I just toss this in a Lot-o? I just got a new/used double one, haven't used it yet but thinking a head. I would like to get some shin on this rock but keep as much of the shape and hopefully enhance the visibility of the veins, any thoughts?
As a side note, I was recently diagnosed with colon cancer and will need surgery, once I know when that will be if ya'll don't mind posting up a storm, pictures anything as sitting at home recovering should bore me out of my mind lol I would have never thought I might miss going to work.

looks like a solid idea, not much to add other than how many blades do you think you'd use? or would you use a tuck blade? you may want to do a "dry" run, if you can get a pool ball, since that's already round you could roll it around just above the blade and get a feel for how it will go.

Found my polished rocks (they were hiding from me) and got some photos for ya.
Stromatolite and conglomerate from CA desert
that conglomerate is very nice, wouldn't mind seeing a couple more angles

wire wrap some and keep them for those times you need a Birthday, Christmas etc gift real quick. Look on ebay and check the sold auctions, that will give you some idea of what people are willing to pay, compare the type of stone, size, quality etc and you should have an idea what the ones you have are worth, if anything.

Anybody know this company B U T W on ebay? They have a listing for a 10" slab saw. Competitors sell this saw for ~$800. They have it at $9700! For a 10" saw. So i msg them adising of a possible typo. Did they fix it? No they put up another listing same product, same price! Anybodyknow them? I've noticed this sort of thing from other sellers (yes I have purchased from them) I think it's a "place holder" or some sort of advertising. What I have done in the past is google the name and then find their website, which sometimes has cheaper prices and no ebay fees for them. IMO it's a way to get around the ebay fees, like advertising.

check ebay, lots of used ones on there usually with no grit etc, so compare the price of a new one and factor everything in to see if it's a good deal or not.

the inside doesn't always look like the outside, either carry a hammer or something to break a small piece off or carry it home and cut it (that's what I do) because you never know. And I'm not good enough or smart enough to know what's what.

It's a neighborly day in this beauty wood, A neighborly day for a beauty. Would you be mine? Could you be mine?...
I've always wanted to have a neighbor just like you. I've always wanted to live in a neighborhood with you.

I've done that, still very messy. Does your saw have a fence? I took mine off and I use a lot of water. The shield keeps me much cleaner that w/o it. This tile saw really slings the water high and far. Are you referring to a fence or blade guard? If you removed the guard, I can see where that could make things a bit messier for you. My blade guard is still on the saw. Dave yeah meant the blade guard, took that off, they aren't useful for rocks and rather flimsy, not to mention I cut bigger rocks than I should, but gotta make due with what ya have.

One more question, Have you tried the Super Grinder yet? if yes was your drip system adequate to suppress the increased dust generated. Henry

That's cool kevin24018, just a little wide in my opinion, be hard to reach around. it is, although I can reach around it, it will be more comfortable for me if it's not as wide. I just score it deeply with a utility knife and break it. I'll work on it some more.

Let me be the naysayer in this thread. Instead of using a shield, go to the backside of the saw and pull instead of push. A little bit of misting occurs, but it's not daunting. Hell, on a hot day, it feels pretty good. ETA: Today, as like the two previous days, I spent about two hours cutting on each day. T-shirt was a bit wet, but I didn't need to change it at the end of the day. If I was standing in front of the saw, I'd be looking for a shield. Standing on the backside doesn't produce any issues whatsoever.. Dave I've done that, still very messy. Does your saw have a fence? I took mine off and I use a lot of water. The shield keeps me much cleaner that w/o it. This tile saw really slings the water high and far.

This was the plastic from a poster frame. It's a little too wide for comfort but it works like I hoped. flic.kr/p/XtprMPflic.kr/p/Xtps8Dflic.kr/p/XtpterI notched the ends and reinforced the edges with duct tape. It came with a plastic film that you are supposed to remove, I left it on for protection. I considered putting plastic wrap on it to help with scratches but I don't think I'll need to worry about it.

does the pressure of the nuts on the end, washer and spacers keep the wheels from slipping or do they have some kind of set screw?
