It's darn cheap. 36" X 36" X 12" anywhere from $75 to $160 from Atlanta Georgia to lower 48. $160 being west coast. Delivered to consignee's residence. A 150 pound box of rocks is smaller than that which would lower cost. Insurance is cheap too. Cost to pick up at your home is reasonable. Freight company can't touch that for individual shipments. I'm guessing you couldn't split the lot up into large flat rates? just wondering how that might have compared provided they would fit and you don't have some monsters in there.

As of now we are planning to go next month for a day. Well go Saturday and come back Sunday. Any of the pay mines any good? No seeding of foreign stuff, hate that. How about and creeks or streams we could collect from? Not looking for anything requiring tools, just something fun to do for a couple of hours. Kevin, on the road from Pigeon Forge to Gatlinburg there is a large creek that runs between the 4 lanes. There are places to pull off that people use to trout fish. Never rockhounded there so don’t know if it’s productive. Most of those sluice mine operations are seeded. There are some actual pay mine sites over in North Carolina. yeah doesn't sound too promising, if we end up going I'll try creek.

look for spacers or bushings so a 1/2 size will fit. I'm confused. If my arbor size is 3/4" and most saw blades have smaller holes - 5/8"... what does a spacer/bushing allow me to do? ah thought your arbor was 1/2 shouldn't be difficult to find 3/4, google

Prior to purchasing, I didn't realize how large the shaft diameter was on these arbors. 3/4" on mine... is that standard? I can't find any inexpensive diamond saw blades which fit 3/4". How is everyone getting around this issue? Thanks. L look for spacers or bushings so a 1/2 size will fit.

A unique opportunity was presented to me, but need some expert advice. I am so out of the loop when it comes to modern lapidary equipment. Looking for recommendations on the following. Would have about $4500.00 total to spend on all equipment, accessories, supply of grits and polishes. Not a lot, so thinking entry level. Two-barrel rotary tumbler or possibly a Vibe. Never used a Vibe before, but they look interesting. A 6” trim saw. Mini drill press. A cabbing machine. Never used one of these either. Do not know if it would even be possible, money wise. These items must be purchased new. I can set everything up in my 1st floor utility room, which has a hot/cold water supply, plenty of electricity and natural light. The utility sink presently discharges on my lawn outside via a long pipe with elbows, but can easily remove the pipe and discharge “sludge” directly from the sink into a pail. My washing machine discharges into the sink. Proposal must be submitted Thursday afternoon. Thank you. that's a lot of money imo, search ebay just so you can get some ideas as to what's available and prices, then pick a place that can answer questions after your purchases and provide customer service.

I did a BIN on eBay yesterday for something and the shipping calculator came up with $20.88 for shipping. Figured the item price + shipping was good by me, so I purchased the item. $100 item. Did the Paypal thing and sent payment of $120.88. okay, fine and dandy. Done deal and I'll wait for my item. Tonight I received a message from the seller, saying: I just wanted to let you know that the shipping total came to $39.12 so the total for the item came to $139.12. I have attached the entire shipping receipt for your records. Thank you for your purchase.Seller included 2 photos of the shipping receipt. Does the seller think I'm going to send them another payment for an additional $18.24? That's not what I agreed to with the Buy it Now + shipping price. Anytime I have sold something and shipping was over my stated cost, I just ate the difference. If shipping was less than my stated cost, I have refunded the overage. This is an odd one for me. opinions? too bad for him, once it's paid etc etc the contract is done, because they made a mistake it's not your problem. I've run into similar situations but they followed through with it anyway, it's not worth negative feedback.

so I have a couple of mfrb. I have these large foam brick type freezer packs that are the exact size of the box, think i can fit 7 of them in one box, also have the smaller 7 x 5.5 ish, 11 will fit in the box, you just send the cost of the medium flat rate box via paypal and I'll ship them out, it's either this or they will start getting thrown out unfortunately.

It looks like quartz with iron staining I flipped it over and it is quartz for sure. The staining makes it look shiny, so tempting to see what's under it, but it looks pretty cool as is.

Don't se much material from your part of the world. DO you have local rock club around there? Might be some help there and also friends and new places to hunt. My only vague guess would be wood or jasperwood. Have you looked at the local geology yet. Amazing stuff from our own areas sometimes. I have learned a ton by reading and thinking about the processes. Helps you to know where to look and what you are looking for. Have you done any tests on it yet? hardness, acid. etc? Wish I could help more but just don't know anything about your area. I do belong to the lock rock club, I'm on of the young ones so guess that tells you something, they go on organized trips as I'm sure they have more material than they could ever use/want lol. It's too big and heavy to carry to a meeting. Guess I'll try some vinegar on the sides to see if it comes off. It's pretty shiny, so even if it is stained I'll leave it as is. My wife likes it and I think it's really cool looking like that.

Did anyone notice that at mid morning that the sunlight outside reverted to looking like it does just before sunrise? I blame climate change er global warming (space reserved for new catch phrase) and Confederate statues. Heard there's a video someone blaming it on racism, you can't make that sh!t up.

Wow, that looks really good, Chuck. When you say "hand polished" do you mean with no motorized tools, or do you mean that it wasn't done in a tumbler? Either way, it looks great. Now you need a big pudding stone to be its buddy on your desk. This one was too big to mess with on the Genie because the wheels are too close to each other. I rough shaped it on my lortone arbor with an 80 grit diamond wheel then the rest was done with sandpaper and polish. Final polish was ZAM on a wheel. Been messing with the dang thing off and on since March. Chuck have you ever tried a flap wheel or one of the sanders that have the foam Velcro type attachment? Was wondering if that might work.

What is this new ebay shopping experience? rockjunquie help me! It won't even let me eliminate the buy-it-nows from my search! How do I just shop for auctions of lapidary materials in the horrible new universe? I'm in the lapidary materials category, and every time I click the "Auctions" button, the screen blinks, then drops me back to page one of the search, with "all items" checked. And, it won't show the ending time of an auction unless you click through! Aaarrrrrrggggghhhhh! Are they TRYING to make me switch to buying on FB? (Not that I need to buy more rocks, but, you know, I WANT to sometimes!) eBay>Collectibles>Rocks, Fossils & Minerals>Lapidary Materials>Rough Minerals for Cabbing towards the bottom left Buying Formatsee all All Listings Auction Buy It Now just select auction if you don't want to see the buy it now as far as the time being displayed etc, you have to choose that stuff in your settings
