Black chert. Folks call it flint but black flint is usually associated with chalk while chert is with limestone. We have a very similar local type folks call Edwards Blue Flint but it is actually a black and gray chert.....Mel

OK, I know the most dangerous question a man can answer. "Does this dress make my ass look big?" Actually, if one thinks about it, any question regarding how a woman looks is a land mine. Just remember guys, lie , lie lie and then lie some more. All dresses make their asses look tiny, everything makes them look ten years younger and hotter and every comment they make is a miracle of wisdom. And dudes, think before you answer too, cause wimmens is tricky. They will ask the "ass big" question right when you are engrossed in yore favorite book or TV program and if the question does not really register and you answer automatically, as many long married guys do, " Yes Dear!' All ya'll are screwed. Married 50 years next year by the way so not without a little experience *LOL*
Regarding the questions a woman can ask a man. Back in the stone ages when I was dating I was broke and drove a crap car so no gal ever had to ask me any financial stuff *L*. I did however, have a gal start asking me marriage and kids stuff on a first date. That bout required a change of underwear. My favorite question, since I was a super shy, very non aggressive guy, was when a little hippie gal I met on a dive trip asked a semi drunk me if I would like to **** her. Had to get over the shock and finish my happy dance first but... "Affirmative ma'am!!!!!!!" Oh that that would have happened more than once in my ute cause man did I have a lot of awful dates .....Mel

OK tough one. Looks to be Oregon material. My best guesses would be a hunk of sort of sagenitic Crooked River limb cast or a piece of Summit Prairie Plume agate from Prineville. That stuff can also have kind of a sagenite type plume. Really only guesses though as that kind of plume stuff occurs in lots of Oregon deposits, even Graveyard Point and Succor Creek have similar types as does Horse Canyon in Commiefornia....Mel

Those are nice! The black and white is Zebra Lace out of Mexico. Your slab looks great. That material is often fractured and very vuggy. Often needs a lot of super glue.....Mel

Yikes !Welcome to the big ole "line of dirty oil down the middle of yore shirt gang" Since I'm the hurried forgetful type, that's not an uncommon experience with me but I cut in Wally World baby oil so it ain't too bad. Very frustrating to trash a blade though cause the folks that repair them don't do it anymore....Mel

*LOL* Sometimes I miss all my poppy jasper that Bob took back to Florida with him, and that all my pics of same are on fuggin Peebucket. The jasper went to a good home though, was too big for my little saw anyway *sigh*, and I do enjoy the two new cowboy shooters I bought with Bobs bucks.
Too many other rockhounding regrets to mention them all. Wish I would have spent weeks at the Dryhead digs for example or at Baker ranch when digging eggs cost 15 cents per pound. Wish our gang of hounds could have found the "Lost Jim" agate deposit in the Cadys. Unfortunately, Jim just got us lost while looking for the four foot thick ledge of gem quality red moss and plume. Again, ole Bob got the 50 pound or so boulder that was the best hunk of float I ever found from that lost deposit. Oh yeah, also pissed that I left a huge lens of good nephrite as a stepping stone in the garden when I moved to Texas and another huge boulder of Oaxaca dolomite that my wife had claimed for her raised flower garden. Kind of meant to bring those with me *L*. There ya see, now ya have got me all depressed *sniff*....Mel

Wow! Those are all so pretty but the one that really grabs me is the green moss swampy one. That is just a cool looking scene. Looks like some alien aquatic landscape....Mel

*S* We moved cross country, Commiefornia to Texas, nine years ago and I still can't find my good target stand, or the replacement I bought when I could not find that one. Still finding taped boxes of rocks I had the movers move. Problem is, the big RV barn that came with the house has too many places to put stuff. Still remembering rocks I left in the yard and forgot to pack when I left the west. Funny, but as I gets older, I seem to forget a lot. Went on a snake rescue the other day and forget my belt. Bent over to snatch the snake and my pants fell down right in front of a whole BBQ party full of guests. You'd think Ida forgot the embarrassment by now, but nope *L*....Mel

Wow, so many neat stones. I cannot believe you had that ruby come out so well. I have some nice slabs of that and no stone gives me a bigger headache. That stuff is a booger when I try to work it. My favorite from the lot is the horn coral though. What a wonderful full replacement of the structure in that one. It's.......AWE....SOME.....Mel

Yep, I was thinking shell casings too. That kind of tumbler goes way back while rock tumbling is pretty recent I'd guess. Much lower abrasion than tumbling rocks. I would think rock tumbling grit would cut right through a wooden barrel. Still cool beans on that neato gizmo....Mel

Great to hear ya made it through OK. Your post was a hoot, especially about the kiddoes with their friggin cell phones. Hardy see a kid anymore without their face buried in their stupid phone, and by kids, I mean a lot of thirty somethings too. What a waste of oxygen!.....Mel

I'm not a great fossil guy but maybe a partial inner ear bone off a whale or porpoise or some other mammal? Seem to remember finding similar fossil pieces at sharktooth hill back in the day.....Mel

I kind of like that textured effect. Looks more natural that way. I have a cab somewhere that came off a hunk of copper ore I found behind a cafe in AZ. Finished with that dimpled effect and I kept it cause it was cool looking....Mel
