Hey to all, I thought you would be interested. Sands arrived, he is house broken, sits in the corner, and even does not interrupt! He arrived with his trailer and truck, we are going to see the town and eat. Sands is ok.

Yeah, I am going to take him into the shop tomorrow. He says he wants to learn. I will show him how to succeed! From the ground up. Hey , Sands is ok. We went out to our favourite family Italian resteraunt. It was cool. We haven't relaxed yet, as there is too much to do, but I am going to show him how to wire wrap tonite. Sands is as nice a person in person, as he is on the net. Sands got to meet Ralph and Muffy. They think he is ok for an human. Sands is ok. He did not even go in the corner. He goes out to the fence where there is a lot of sand.

Sands is taking lots of pics. I made a custom gold ring, with ruby for a customer and he got to see the whole thing, from start to finish. He is taking pics of everything. Sands spent his entire day in the shop today. We wore him out. Every other vendor in the market was empty, we had customers from early in the morning, to after closing, again. He is really trying to help. He is getting fired up about stone cutting again. I have shown him how to do the opal intarsia. He is getting the fire again. He wants me to teach him silversmithing. I hoped he would. I think he has what it takes. As soon as we can figuire out how to download his camera into my 'puter, we will get pictures up. The thing is, you meet people over the internet. Who knows really. People say a lot of crap. Sands is the real thing. He is a straight up guy, gives more than he accepts. He is just a decent person. I cannot say enough. I hope others of us get a chance to meet him. We did not know each other from diddly squat. Within an hour after we came home from the shop, we just started settling down. I introduced him to Sam I Am, and they are going to build his cab station in his "home" so he can get cutting again. This week, I hope to get him soldering. He watched me do my thing, and he does not think he can do it. I told him, it took me a while. Once he gets a torch in his hand I think he will get more and more confidence. Sands is ok.

Sands had an hideous abscess in his lower jaw this morning. We gave him directions to a dentist, he found a Dr., got some 'cillin and came to the shop. We had an insane day. I got Sands to solder a seam on a bezel on a pendant I am having him work on. So far so good. I had him roll out some sheet stock on my rolling mill, he worked a torch on a torch pad, and the bezel is ready for the plate. Sands is good company and really stays out of being underfoot while being involved. He shows real promise in the shop. I hope I can get him a career. He has too much time on his hands. Sam I Am, is one of the colourful Floriduh Critters that seem to hang out in the shop. He mostly forgets my name, gets underfoot, talks big, and produces little. Sam I Am, is kinda a friend of the shop though and he is going to help Sands learn to solder. He met Big Hair Tina, Becky the Airhead, and I think Betty Big Boobs is coming tomorrow. While Sands was cutting the bezel, he watched me resize a ring with coloured stones, replace a ruby, solder a broken rope chain, repair a bracelet, replace a lobster claw on another bracelet, reset a Princess cut stone on a complicated setting, get bapped on the head with a cane by a Q-Tip, have to throw out some Jerry beads, Design a bracelet, repair a jade bracelet with resoldering a link, and reinstalling the jade, then cutting some turquoise to fit a pendant. That was all in about 20 minutes. Sands has really been a big help in the shop. Jenne and I are so tired from what we do, even if all he did was scare away customers it would be good. He made a sale today and was walking on water for about two minutes untill some 'pukes tried to rip off a ring, and Sands had to talk to folks in the isle, our display table, and get me some stuff, plus deal with some more customons over shark teeth. He is tired. I am going to let him put his laptop on our phone line so he can download the photos and contribute to the forum. Right now, he is sleeping, I think.

One of the best things about Sands. He is like a big Teddy bear, and he does not do anything he does not know about. He is also absolutely shameless about saying he does not know something. There is no guess work involved. If he is not sure, he just stops and asks. You tell him, and he tries. I am giving him the business in very small doses. The first thing I had him do was to melt scrap silver into a ball. If you know what melted silver looks like, you can control soldering. I think he has what it takes. I want to set his roots in fertile soil. You do not meet people like Sands anymore. He is old school.
