Sands is really getting settled in. He started looking at houses, over the internet for this area. He is relaxing, cutting again, and helping in the shop. He is getting out and starting to know the area. I wanted his teeth, fresh, bloody, to cast. I thought it would be real cool. Those plastic teeth just do not cut it.

Glad to hear you're healing so well Sands, I can't wait to see some more of your cabs.

If you think the teeth are a little unconventional, you should see the mutant cockroach we have down here. I wish I had a picture. Full grown, it is about 1 1/2" in length, with a single probiscus extending out of its mouth. It injects a toxin into the victim. They have been seen more, and more here. The next time I see one, I am going to cast it in silver. That will make a great pendant. It is called an hunter cockroach. We also get a giant waterbug that gets up to 2" in length. The venom from that digests the body from the inside out. There is no antitoxin. I want to cast one of those also.

Hey Doc - How bout a cockroach/waterbug battle in Thunderdome. Winner gets cast in silver. Loser dissolves.

Rob (hubby) has a job offer in Lake City, Fl. He took a drive down there to check it out. Sadly, he didn't like the area and I don't think we're moving, nor is he likely to take the job. We were really both pumped up at the thought of moving to Florida. Alas, he's still hunting for a job..... I thought it would be neat to give it a shot and maybe find a few places along the coast that might start buying some of the stuff I'm making to support my rock/silversmithing habit. *sighs*

You mean you missed out on all the pickup trucks, rednecks, pit bulls, and just plain dumb bunnies? Lots of fleamarkets here though, if you can get past the prejudice. No one wants anyone to succeed. Hard to explain. It takes a different approach. Everyone here has a junk yard mentality. Everything is by the gram. I sell nothing by the gram. Art is one off. You have to be tough, but a person can break through, boy.

Anything is better (as far as income) than being a painter. My last royalty check was $14.28. Time to retire my paint-brush and replace it with a torch! It may take me a year or two...but I'm convinced I can do it. Just not sure of the path yet. They don't make maps for where I'm going. (yep...I think it's the menopause that's talking again)

Sounds like Sands is in the midst of a grand new adventure, and I am happy for him. Doc, you are a good man and I can't imagine a better companion and mentor. Cheers to you guys; and what you have going is just so cool. From PA to FLA. What a world of differance. I'll be anxious to see some pics soon myself. Like a screen play with a happy ending -Banjo

Where about in Florida are you docone31? I live on the outskirts of Orlando. I'm looking for a place in Dawson or Lumpkin Ctys. in Georgia myself. Will be putting house on market after the holidays. Hopefully it will sell before summer is over so I can get my son in school up there. Hey Sands, Where's the pictures?? LOL glad your feeling better.

I am just north of Tampa, in New port Richey. I want to go back to Alaska. Floriduh is a great place, except for the heat, so daggoned flat, all the palm trees, calm water, southerners, and surrounded by water. Remove those factors and it is ok. You from Rat Town? I understand why you are on the move. Haaeey Mickey!!!!

Cher, you will not be able to see the Amythist in the upper left hand corner. It is sold. Same with the Emerald. I sold it, with two emerald earrrings set in sterling. The Amythist was wrapped in 14K/20 square wire, with swirls, the back side also wrapped, but differently. It was a two sided wrap. The Emerald was set in .925, with 14K wire around the bezel. The plate was shaped the same as the Emerald, with twisted 14K wire soldered to the intersection of the .999 bezel, and .925 plate. Twisted wire was used as the bail. I do not want to tell the selling price. No one would believe it. One of Sands pieces, I sold and the person who bought it flew here from Seattle just to pick it up. I have a few customers who fly from NY, Seattle, Anchorage, Costa Rica, Madrid. So, the emerald and amythist are gone. The rest will be samples to help Sands cut for individual customers. The more samples, the more people want one cut for them.
