Ralph and Muffy like Sands. What Sands did not really describe is the biker dude. He really looks like he slept in the trunk of his car for a few years. He had been at a biker bar, did the usual biker bar things, and riding home, ran over his hand with his front wheel. He did not wipe out. He stopped, tore the ring off his finger, it was quite flat, and brought it to me to fix. It had been one of my original castings and I had engraved it. Oiy. Sands eyes almost fell out of his head when the daughter of Weird Harold brought me his ashes in a baggie. It is the kind with the two coloured stripes that go green when they are put together. They not only want the bracelet filled, but now engraved and two hearts put on it. The other daughters want one each also. Sands has not met the other Weird Harold, and his wife Bubbles. He got shot in the head in Viet Nam. The bullet hit his helmet, went completely around the inside of the helmet and blew off the middle of his nose. Bubbles digs graves with a backhoe for a living. With the other Weird Harold, if someone makes a very loud, sharp noise, he jumps over tables, yells incoming! and gets a little out of hand. I can quiet him down but, a large percentage of folks at the shop find genuine reasons to be somewhere else in rather an hurry. Sands is pretty cool about things, but, once in a while he looks like a deer in the headlights. He doesn't say much, but, we do have some giggles later. Our employee, Gail, is pretty stodgy, but, once in a while she sputters and makes a gluking sound, but she quiets down after a bit. Just in time for another colourful creature to show up. The day goes by pretty quickly. I am franchising my business. I do not however think it would be easy for a conservative person to handle. People who have ordinary shops here are not doing so well. It does get interesting at times. Sands is doing good. I think I have created a real niche for him. Everyone else who does what he does is dying on the vine. He is developing a following. I think he is going to do real well.

Your first sale $140.00! How cool is that!
They are beautiful. I didn't realize how much I missed seeing your Cabojohns til I saw these.
The wirewrap isn't perfect, but pretty darn good for the first one. Sure is better than my first one, and second one, and third one and ....... I don't think it will take long before you are turning out perfect wirewraps. I mean, after all, you are being trained by the master himself!
Hi Doc!

Oh my gosh, Doc, your shop sounds like just the place for me to work! If I ever get to travel, ya' might have to fire Gail and hire me.
I get bored so easily, but sounds like boredom in your shop doesn't come around much. I remember when I lived someplace with a lot of "characters" - what fun. No characters around here and it's boring as hell.

Sands is indeed tired. His work is really well solicited, I have had him cut some opals for me, he is going to make some intarsia for a piece I have a comission on. With his wire wrap, yes it is his first. Unfortunately, it is backwards! The front is on the chair, and the back is showing. The front is flawless. All I have to do, is show him what, where, and tell him how. He just picks it up and does it. The market was dead today, and we were busy from opening to close. Sands cannot believe how much work I have. I do start to finish pieces in ten minutes, then set some diamonds, then do a ring sizing, then cut some turquoise, then repair a shank, then design a project, fend off people who want me to work in their business as an attraction. Sands is watching how I solder rope chain, then swap out clasps, then repair hollow bracelets, then throw Jerry Beads at some spaceshot for a little public embarassement. He says I should take a day off. What would I do? I eat, breathe, design, repair jewelery, lapidary, and my hobby is jewelery research. The fleamarket has hired security just to let my customers out, and my wife and I out way after closing. They love it. They want more to do what I do. I got students coming in wednsdays, thursdays, I also do work those days in the shop. My steamer is there. I get so tired I cannot sleep, even though my eyes stop focusing. Sands is helping as he can. We use him to scare away customers.

Wow did I miss the good stuff. Sands those cabojohns are great and what an awesome first day's sales. Congrats, that must feel really good for you. I'm so glad you're back into things. For a first wrap, you did really good, Doc says we need to see the other side so give us a flip shot.
