Woodworking, but I'm a bit crud at it. I'll keep on trying though! As they say - "practice makes perfect" Programming - gotta keep on programming. Theres always a thousand ways of writing the same bit of code - its just a case of getting the best one Unix programmers are best at that. Joanna - any pics of your woodwork you could share with us? PS2 Games. I'm addicted to games (also the Nintendo GameCube). Best games Nintendo - Rogue Squadron (Star Wars type game) PS2 - Conflict Zone (tanks, troops and a big base ) Younger brother tends to come up with the best games for me to look out for (hes getting married in May this year - Dads best man which is excellent) - Sidetracking. He's introduced me to some stormers which Ive played for days on end and still not won (nay weeks infact). Ok - back on topic. Planting trees. Sounds strange - but I want to plant as many Conker trees as I can. So that when I popit there are still loads of trees behind. Did 20 or so last year. (I reckon the park warden's going to be miffed - all these little seedling conker trees popping up in a beechwood) Gaetzchamp - youre into fishing a touch? I do that when the weather gets warmer - as for spending time in the desert - you lucky ..... I wish I could go and sit in the desert and stare at dunes for 10 years. (has to be ten - only then will things seem right) Good stuff you do the sports - you must be fit as a fiddle as it were. Rose - you like your cross-stitch and having a good shag? Great stuff I doubt anyone would look down on Roses Hobbies Earthdog - can you send in some photos of the pond works? Sounds like an excellent pastime and I for one would like to see what youre upto. Hobbies. Hmm - I would like to think that one day I will prove Einstien wrong with the "bending" of space. This - I reckon - is the thing that makes me pull a chair up and just work. Whats a hobby? Tweatypie - "candle making". I tried that, and melted down a load of wax in a pan on the stove. But the candle I made from it kept going out. I came to the conclusion that I'd evaporated all the petrol in the wax - could that be right? Chassroc - tommies - I love em, the better half has a small greenhouse thingy - last year it looked like a square cut section of the Amazon rain forest - it was chocka with tomatoe plants of different kinds. As for the ballroom - nice - very nice. Ive an award in the Cha-Cha - Step step cha cha cha - turn around cha cha cha forward step cha cha cha. Back step........... Keep it smooth mate. Hobbies - hmmmmm. Life. Mark

Hi NMrocks, I'm not certain about your situation - thats one thing for certain!!! Mate - if you have bad days at work then leave - and leave now. Believe or not, there are a GAZZZZILLION opportunities for earning a living out there without sucking up to someone else. NM - you have got to see the bigger picture - walk out - and make your own way in life. I hope my words arent wasted - Do it NMrocks - leave the slackers behind and make your own way in life - DONT FORGET ITS YOUR LIFE NOT THEIRS!!!! Get a plan - think it out - and trip on out. DONT LET THE BUM BOILS GET YOU DOWN....... Life is too short to be sucking up someones pants - DOC will agree I think. Its hard at first, but then its ok - you DO NOT RELY ON YOUR STUPID JOB (no offence - but if you have a job - then realize that some other brain is sucking from yours). Mark.

Poor little mite. That snake is probably petrified. We don't get them over here, but if that was in my back garden i'd probably worry. I must admit I wouldnt like that being around whilst Im laying on the sun lounger chilling out (in a few months time). Rocky - cant you collect it up and put it out in the wild rather than give it a "shave" though. I had mice in my garage two years ago - the nextdoors said "kill them" etc. They were crapping all over the place I built a wooden friendly trap, stored them up in a "palace" which is really for hamster pets etc, whilst I got them all. (their smell attracts the others so keeping the captured ones was like a bait to the free ones). I got to Seven Mices in the palace , (you know the kind of thing - plastic runs and tubes all over the show) - then I took them down to the wilderness in the middle of nowhere and set them free. They probably missed the chocolate biscuits I fed them Much better than killing the poor mites. Who, after all, are only trying to survive. How about a "Snake Trap" whereby the snakes get into a cage, and you let them go somewhere far away? Its quite rewarding. Infact for me anyway - very rewarding knowing that other people will kill - and I will set free as best I can. That dude is scared - give him a break

I just watched the film "SIGNS" with Mel Gibson, and there were these kids in it with TIN FOIL HATS ON? Whats going on - I have a mate who told me to watch the Simpsons to find out. I havent the time for that cartoon stuff. Am I being thick again? Can someone re-iterate what in summary form what the "tin foil" is all about? Someone once wrote "You dont know what you dont know". Im sure theres a connection there but where the hell do the foil hats fit in? Radio waves?

Doc, I'm not ready to make a boat yet - not skilled enough - and the canal near me wouldnt quite warrant it. I live 70 miles from the nearest decent point at which I could harbour a boat to sea. Hopefully i'll get out out on a mates boat again this year, I like the sound of the Irish Sea....... This was last year.... Coded messages - LOL The Air Was Blue - this means I swore like - errr - real bad. And my bad words turned the air "blue". So no connrock - I didnt break wind - I swore badly - and cursed myself saying things like "whats ******** wrong mark, cant you put a ******* screw in the right ******* place you stupid ***** !! Bodge it - well thats normal - a quick fix on a bad job... The screw is out of line, so to make it look better (the frame in its entirety) I may take out that screw and put one lower down, a "bodge job" on the hole from the wrong screw would "cover it". Therefore it would be totally "bodged"

Cheers KD - yup - SS screws - I like the "studded" look at the mo. I'll have to coat them with clear silicone to protect the wood around them though soy they will dim a bit...... There is one screw out of line in particular. The air was blue when I realised May have to bodge it!! Mark

Hi all, not been around this week much as instead ive made a new window frame for my garage. Top tip down to this hobby. The old frame had frosted glass in it, and I wanted to keep it - so having removed the 3 glass sheets from the frame, I measured them up and found they werent square. No worries, with them being only slightly out, I decided to build the frame around them (more or less). Anyway - frame complete, I attempt to place the glass into position for fixing. One wouldnt go in due to one corner having too much glass up one side. I could see that whoever did the old frame had chipped it away with pliers or something and left it rough etc.... No problemo - I noted that my belt sander has silicon carbide belts.... hehe, no kidding, thirty seconds later, goggles on and the sander was going through the glass like a knife through butter - literally 10 seconds later the glass fit perfectly into the frame. If it wasnt for rock tumbling, Id never have known that SC was harder than glass, and probably would have scored the glass and wrecked it. There we have it - a practical application of silicon carbide outside the hobby. And the before and after pics.

Flippin heck mate - i must admit i'm struggling with your words!!! I get the feeling i'm out of my depth with your thoughts. I thought i'd found someone to relate to - but in actual fact - I cannot keep up with you Doc. Sure - definately change is on the cards so struck, but I'm not sure "Uncommon sense must become common sense." about that kind of stuff. I asked, thats a definate. Not sure Im so deep as to appreciate the answer though. I'll ask this one then Docone, Done any rocks recently? How about that? Look Doc - I dont want my teeth cracking, I dont really want to die in Alaska cos of the cold either - i'm sure theres a better way to enjoy the wilderness. Youve kind of shown me a hard way doc. With a touch of the piss take in there too! Nowt wrong with that. Mark

Doc, are you trying to put me off Alaska, because i'd rather hear some positives.
And don't even try and tell me there are none.
Let me know where you are and I'll put my money where my mouth is and come and see you.
I shall have a beer, and you can watch and have a cup of tea.
If you show me the ropes......................i'd be totally happy and work like a skinned dog.
And, if you screw up, then if I were your neighbour you'd have a mate to lean on - but i'd lean on you already for help. . Where do you live Doc. I want to fly over and meet you.
