MAN- That Indian Paint Stone is one of the coolest cabs I've seen. I wouldn't change it, wouldn't polish it. It reminds me of a cave painting. LOVE IT! S Aren't you using a Pixie?

Ed- I think I sent you the darker grey slab... he had that one listed as a Grade-B slab, but it was my favorite of all the slabs I purchased. I really liked the darker colors in that slice. So, the first cab is from the darker slice? I keep looking at it - it has a lot of depth. Wish I could see them in person...sure will be interesting seeing more from that slab...yep. Thanks for sharing. S

Cher's right, Ed -
That 2nd piece is stunning. These are still cuts from the first slab? KD is working some of this, too, and John should have a piece here pretty quick to play with.
I just love seeing what all the different grinders come up with and how they orient the plumes, etc. I'm trying to develop an "eye" before I actually start cutting.
Y'all are truly an inspiration to me. ;D S

That coral reef cab (#1) is just unbelievable. I have a couple of preforms of Bear's, some dino bone, petosky stone, stuff nobody else bid on - it's still pretty. Of course, I missed out on all the plumes and dendritics and the good Lakers, 'cuz y'all outbid me. *sour grapes* S

I LOVE the brown matrix and the flashes of opal, especially the greens and blues. I was looking online for some Koroit rough, but it was VERY EXPENSIVE. I saw a really nice parcel of rough (maybe 5 pieces...) that was almost $2,000! (Sorry - I don't have that kind of $). S

Cher - I collected the lepidolite at the Harding Pegmatite Mine which is owned by the University of New Mexico. I posted a thread about it a while back - next time I go I'll try to get some photos. Collecting is allowed (with a signed release form) on a fee basis, and you can only take out 5 lbs of rock. Stoner is correct - it is quite soft and I doubt it would do well in a tumbler, but he kindly offered to cab some for me. The area is beautiful and it's worth it to get the lepidolite. There are supposed to be some other places in new Mexico where one can collect lepidolite, but I haven't checked them out yet. The red agate (?) jasper (?) is typical of what can be found near the Rio Puerco - sometimes with yellow stringers and translucent areas. I have a couple barrels rolling right now full of NM agate and P-wood collected on Ron's Mesa. Should be done in about 3 months... S

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH- AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH
That red agate is outstanding. How weird that it was fractured like that.
Guess I'll have to go collect more Lepidolite, eh?
