Very cool! A trip report AND a great wrap! That's some nice Gary Green. Thank you. I didn't get a lot but the few very nice pieces I slabbed up and I only have a slab or two left that I'm hoarding.

drocknut - Diane, thank you SO much! That was a great read...and I loved seeing that Gary Green (I can't stand calling it Freedom Jasper!) in situ was really cool! The wrap looks great!! Thanks Jason. Glad you liked it. I can't stand calling it Freedom Jasper either. It's always gonna be Gary Green in my eyes. I am so grateful I was able to go there and collect before it got claimed. I don't know if they still allow collecting but I'm sure not since they are digging 15+ feet down or so I've heard.

Nice pics! Thanks for the short videos, too. Looks like you found some really nice stuff. I was waiting for a Where's Jax picture, but didn't see one, unless of course I didn't find her! LOL, I was waiting for the where's Jax picture too. Looks like she was having a lot of fun. Glad you came back with some great rocks too.

Very nice set of cabs. I'm sure she'll love them. I was thinking Serape Jasper too although the first ones sort of remind me of Arizona Petrified Wood.

Well, I cut it close but it is still March so I made it. I finally had a chance to sit down and wrap. So here's the back story (and yes, I know, pictures or it didn't happen). In May, 2016 I went on a rockhounding trip with RTH and another forum that no longer exists. I took my friend Frank along too. The trip took us to McDermitt, NV and OR. Here's what the bustling town of McDermitt looked like (yep, this was downtown). We spent several days camping and exploring the area both with the group and on our own. At that time a majority of the area was still open to collecting and Gary Green was still called Gary Green (it's now Freedom Jasper). One of the days we went to the area known for having Gary Green. It was a beautiful day and wildflowers were blooming all over the area. You could see pieces of Gary Green all over the ground although most of the surface material was really broken up and fractured. Two older gentlemen were digging in a large hole when we pulled up to park and we didn't pay much attention to them. A few others from our group were walking around the area picking up rocks so we did the same until Frank got hungry. We decided to take a break from walking around and eat lunch on the tailgate of my pickup. We watched the two men dig in their hole for about 20 minutes while we ate. Eventually they dragged a couple of big chunks of Gary Green to their waiting pickup truck and asked if we would like a few tips before they left. Of course we said yes. I didn't get their names of pictures but they told us basically to dig where they had been digging. They said a lot of the material on top was fractured and well picked over but bigger nicer chunks were hidden just below the surface. So we finished our lunch and as they pulled away we went into the hole to dig. Needless to say they were right and we came away with a few nice sized chunks of Gary Green.
View of Gary Green in situ
This is the chunk that produced the slab that produced the cab that I wire wrapped for the challenge. The wire wrap: front
Back That trip was so much fun. I'm glad we went and also glad that I got a chance to relive the trip doing this challenge.

Those are all great. I've been so busy battling weeds and having appointments that I haven't wrapped anything.

Love seeing the "wrapping crew" in action. Way to go spreading the addiction around.

And a week or so after I said "Roaming Wire is finished" I picked up the box from Robin at the post office today. What a treat! AmyK didn't indicate that she had traded any stones, so I'm not taking apart the great packing job she did to see if there are changes, at least not tonight. But enough about that--check out her wrap--precision at its best, and also cute as can be! Thank you so much! I feel guilty that Robin didn't keep this. amyk Awesome wrap Amy. I think I bought a strand of those butterflies years ago and haven't used them. Might have to dig them out.

Want to say Thank You! to all the folks here who sent well-wishes my way. Too many to list here without risking missing someone, so I wanted to say I read them all. Each and every one made me feel better.
So - no more gallbladder - and I feel better already. One of the "multiple stones" in there had moved to completely block the duct from the gallbladder a couple of days ago, so it was really good the surgery was already scheduled. Knew I could feel a difference on Saturday. That was it.
All done now. In and out like an overpriced auto mechanic. Now will be on to adjusting dietary habits and such.
Thanks again, everyone.
So glad to hear they got it done and you're feeling better.

Sigh....... drocknut, OK I get it, you're going to have to settle for a different color rock for now, since the green ones are just being problematic out in the field.
I bet you might have one laying around, maybe under your pillow .
Funny, we went boating/fishing today at a lake 1.5 hrs north east of us (that had NO fish BTW) & as we motored around an island I actually saw a rock face on the island (although I think it was likely limestone) ! Intriguing just the same.
Patty
Well I'm sure I have a cab around here somewhere ;-) I have a few ideas just have to get down to wrapping.
