My Friend ended up cracking some ribs by falling through a ceiling while up in an attic. He is all together now.

I had to take away the dead spots and this was what was left. It was a fun piece to cut. You just never know what is going to happen when you cut fire agate. That is why I love cutting so much. The internal drama and anticipation can be intense at times.

So I attended this meeting yesterday. I learned that we have at least two committee members who are on our side. One committee member represents rock hounds and the other represents miners. There were some really good presentations and it seems as though this committee has really put in some work in getting all the existing routes recorded. Now we just have to wait and see what the BLM is going to do with the data this committee gathered. I wish there was a larger turn out of lapidary, mining and jewelry people. There was 4 people there from the rock world including myself. Of those 4 I was the only one to address the committee. Folks we really need more participation if you want our deserts and other lands to remain open for further exploration and gem collecting

I am re-posting this from another group. I feel it is important to show-up to this meeting as our access to the desert and collecting areas could be limited and or restricted The DAC (Desert Advisory Committee) of the BLM will meet on Saturday, June 8, 2013 to discuss "West Mojave Route Designation" . This is Access to our collecting areas! BLM needs to know we (rockhounds) care if access to our collecting sites are open or closed. Please attend if you can. Carriage Inn, 901 N. China Lake Blvd, Ridgecrest, CA, 93555. 8:00 A.M. - 4:30 P.M. Yes I know that is early to get to Ridgecrest but think of it as a fieldtrip! More info on BLM website www.blm.gov/ ca You don't need to say anything if you don't want to- just by showing up it will let BLM know we DO care and want our recreation activity to be considered.

It is so very hard to capture the fire in fire agate. Purple , green and blue are the hardest for me to capture. I usually have to take between 30 and 50 photos to get a few good ones if I am lucky.
You did an amazing job on this agate Kurt. I am happy it made to your hands and creative mind.
