The guy is safe now so we can end this thread with a happy note. I ended up calling the UK police and putting international wheels in motion. The situation was repaired very early this morning U.K. time. Thanks for generously taking the time to respond.

He contacted them after your help this time last night. I’ve trued just recently. He hasn’t eaten or drink in 24 hours. Attempted suicide last night (Nashville time) and he survived it. Considering imminent risk to life would the police get involved?

That’s a good price you paid for good material. I’ve seen facet grade hemimorphite before and it was hemi-morphite coloured quartz. Cheaper hemi seems to come out of China. I’d be keeping this as a specimen.

Yes, a guy fell out with his lady & got thrown out. Vulnerable due to historic head injuries. Suicide risk. I’ve tslked him on since this morning. He hasn’t eaten or drink since yesterday. What help is there in the US for this? I know things will be even trickier than ever due to Coronavirus.
I’m still talking to him online & he has sub 50 % battery on his phone.
I don’t feel this is a scam. He’s from the same head injury group I attend on FB. RTH is my biggest link to USA and hoping someone can help inform the situation to me and bring outside help to the guy.

Oh my gosh! Those are two very beautiful stones!! Would you mind telling me what they are? Thanks so much in advance! Very beautiful work by the way!! The top one is Laguna Agate from Mexico The other is Tiffany stone from Utah. (Bertrandite = Opalized Fluorite) Thought so - or hoped as much! Beautiful cut & polishing!

It looks a little like psilomelane dendrite in quartz. If there is a blue-grey hint to the dendrite, it might be pumpellyite. Hardness would give away whether you have quartz or marble / feldspar.

I knew this psilomelane would be killer! I just have to lay my hands on some!

I don’t hammer set but rely on leverage using a burnishing tool. Marking the silver is common but not by any means quite inevitable & it is easier to polish out a scratch like burnished mark than a hammered impression.

Never worked with it. I do have some real natural silver clay from Virginia City. IN the Comstock days they clay would plug up the machinery so they would throw it away. The a German chemist tested it and found it was nearly pure silver. I found a vein of it while exploring a mine down in 6 Mile Canyon. Went back recently to find the mine and get some more but the whole area has changed so much in the about 30 years since I had been up there. Thought it would be fun to make something from the clay. You might get away with it if the silver iclay is nearly pure. The marketed silver clay contains an organic binder that burns out to leave silver (sterling or fine) behind. Obviously with naturally occurring clay the binder is inorganic and not likely to burn out.

I’d have thought it would be used with the brass to the silver... more worried about marking that tbh.. & use a specific hammer to whack the tool, imho!
