fossilman, can you show a picture of a whole one with a line or two drawn to indicate where you are cutting? Lynn

Good picks!!! Love that Serape. And the wonderstone. And the...oh well...I love them all.... Craig Just need to figure how we can get the Big Bend area covered now that Terri is out of commission for a while. Hope her hubby is better. Have to settle for playing with your rocks till the soccer tourney gets over. Since you may get slowed down will tease a fellow crazy for color guy with old stock picts but retain the original rock. Indian Blanket, Tricolor calcite and Pastelite. Picked up a couple of the calcite for a friend and she might also post their pictures for your viewing pleasure. Dint want to post the parana agate..Would have to guard my pile from you. grinnin at Craig...
Cliff, the first pic looks like Indian Blanket jasper. Is that from me at Durango, or from someone at the Buena Vista show? Tommy, How do I quote a post & have the pictures show in my quote? Lynn

I disagree about soft stones. When I teach someone to cab, I start with agate such as Montana Moss agate. Yes, it's hard, but consistently so. It's much easier to cut a single hardness. Also I feel that it's easier to have it grind away slowly. You learn control better. Lynn

smittys, good to see your work. Keep on making more cabs. Make curves smooth & flowing. No bumps or lumps. It takes eyes to see the shape forming as you shape on the coarse wheel. It also takes feel. As you roll the edge of the cab on the wheel, you can feel anything that makes the curve less than smooth & flowing. Put pressure on the high spots & ease off for the low spots. Eventually the curve will become more pleasing. I see you're using dop sticks. Some people refuse to use dop sticks, but they give you better control. I wait for your next batch. Lynn

Welcome Steve. Tumbling is something only some of us do. I make cabs & only tumble occasionally (to finish earrings or cabs in my Lot-O). I run an occasional rotary batch for giveaways at shows where I sell. Lynn

I don't watch soap operas, but when I do they're on online forums. To misquote a KSAN & KFOG newsguy Scoop Nisker: If you don't like the Drama, go out & make some of your own. Well done. Lynn

Here's my Lot-O lid Yesterday I had a revelation. I feel stupid for taking so long to realize it, but whoever named the Lot-O must be a fan of Jerry Lee Lewis. Need I explain? Lynn

I made inquiries into such a FB listing. Patti Polk (Agate Grrrl) said stay away from that seller. I don't recall the name. Beautiful moss agates, though. I would love to find a trustworthy source. Lynn

I've gotten the impression there is a blade brand/model that is to be recommended for this super grinder. Any insights to share where I might obtain some? Thanks. Lynn - zarguy - once bought a pile of blades for our local club. I'd ask him. I bought various 7" blades from liquidators on eBay. They were mixed brands. The price was between $2.60 - $3.20 per blade. Someone had 5 for $10 plus shipping. I asked if he had larger quantities & we went from there. I bought at least 122 of them for myself & other club members. My supergrinder is a stack of 17 blades - it's 1 5/8" wide. Lynn

That string is going with me to the auto parts store when it's time to find a belt that fits The belt tensioning method will be to slid the entire board the motor is fastened to then screw the board in place. I'm all for low-tech solutions that work and I think it will. The aquarium IS the water supply. I built a recirculation / solid separating / filtration system a couple of years ago - works great and massively reduced my water usage. Tommy, Looking good! When it comes down to it, a grinder is a pretty simple machine & not too hard to design & build. I'll be watching your progress. I like that you're recycling an old chair. Remember that V-belts ride close to the outer diameter of the pulleys. Make your measurement there, otherwise you'll end up with a short belt. Lynn

They are all beautiful Lynn zarguy!!! Upload the ones that didn't sell to your online store!!! Give others that can't make it to the shows a chance to see and buy. melhill1659, That's the plan. My Etsy store is pretty bare right now. I have some work ahead of me! Lynn
