Beautiful, Mel, especially that last one!! When I was on the Burro Creek field trip back when with Jamie and Rodney, they used their ATV's, (as did Snowdog) and my bf is talking about one. Can you use those in places like Cady to rockhound? Or other places in CA? I'm so clueless. It was perfect for the rockhounding in AZ, but CA just seems like a different kettle of fish to me...

lol, 'big branch and smooth rocks' is hilarious! How 'bout 'Turner and Amber' ...it just sounds nice, and Turner is what you do with wood, and Amber is for the lapidary part! And maybe it can be a joint site...

Just catching up on this thread!! BEAUTIFUL work, all! I'll keep checking my pm's to send my snail mail address... I was worried at first that I missed my turn or something! Caught up at the end of the school year stuff and was MIA myself for awhile. Can't wait to get back into wrapping!!

Woohoo! I'm glad this thread came up again. I'm flying to Phoenix to visit the bf for for the first couple of days in August. I can only hope it isn't an oven, and I can get him to take me to rockhound at least for an hour or so while I'm there...at least I have him thinking of an ATV in our future, although we'll be living here in CA, he'll still have family in Phoenix!

Absolutely droolable, every one!! Excellent! I love the patterns you choose, the shapes that compliment the patterns, and the workmanship! Wow.

Ahh, I've been 'gone' so long, and this was the first thread I clicked on...Good choice! Absolutely gorgeous, Randy! MJ, that's beautiful stuff! I have to unearth my tools and wire again... Thanks for the inspiration!

Thanks, Fran, Adrian, kjohn and chris!
Chris, I'm not sure how long it takes me. Maybe a few hours to do the wrapping part. I tend to move from one hobby to another, and pick things up and play, then get distracted and pick up something else! I've got crafty-ADHD! Some really involved ones could take up to 10 hours, possibly. That doesn't include the sawing and cabbing of the stone part. One of these days, I should buy one of those cheap timers and log the time! Now I'm kind of curious!

I'm like akansan. No sketches at all, and I am often surprised how things turn out. I just start playing. When I'm really in 'the zone' I can see two or three steps ahead to where I want it to be. Otherwise, it's usually just knowing what I want to do next.

Me four, side 1. The variation in size and range in color, and the slight off-center focal point makes it more dynamic.
Beautiful, by the way!

Thanks, everyone! Yes, Bejewelme, I like adding charms~ I'm partial to lizards and frogs. lol. Tweet, the cab gets wrapped first in a traditional prong wrap, and the wires all around are the 'leftovers', at least in this one. Some have a heavier gauge wire base wrap, that the cab gets attached too, post-wrapped. Wow, a tute is beyond me right now! But it's something to think about...(yikes!) The bottom is a 'simpler' wrap, in that it doesn't have a base, so maybe this summer, after school is out, I'll put throw some ideas around! Randy started something! Or was it Adrian? Mynewhobby, it's all copper colored wire I get on sale at Jo-ann's Fabric store. Sometimes I'll add the sterling and gold filled, depending on the color I want. I don't know if I've posted this one before, but it's an all sterling one around one of Jamie's gorgeous cabs:

...perhaps mine should come with a warning! I use LOTS of wire. ;D First is one of Desert Dweller's jasper cabs. This one is a malachite cab I did and will be heading to a fundraiser soon... All copper wire. I'm in a 'color' phase!

Wow, Wycked! Looks like a starburst-ing butterfly! A very joyful wrap indeed! The wire and the patterns in the stone all come together~ I can't wait until Lori can take a pic of all the butterflies. Such an assortment of wrappers we are! (ps - I'll get to the PO soon, but I'm staying out of the thunderstorms today!)

Thanks for the nice comments, everyone! Especially Ken, since you created the stone butterfly! It really feels good to know that you felt I did it justice. I'll get it in the mail on Monday back to Lori! I'm sorry about your mishap, Akansan, I know you'll be inspired as you play with it for the revision! Chrisp, it seriously looks like you're a pro with wrapping already! A butterfly is a very challanging piece to wrap for experienced folks!

Okay, it's finished. It was HARD for me to do something symmetrical, being the off-center kind of gal I am! lol! I'll be sending it out sometime this week back to Lori. It's been fun, and hopefully will be enjoyed by someone!
