When we go to a show or sale my wife makes me buy more then I planed on. I make pendant and earring sets that both my wife and two daughter wear most every day. Each year for Christmas they each get sets made from the same rock, glass, or bowling ball. The girls have about 100 sets and the wife has over 175. Sure is fun that she enjoys it as much as I do..........................................MrP

OK, nearly done with the Chinese one. Needs another run at polish, and baring any accidents with the opal tusks tomorrow it should be ready. nearly there chinese nephrite with opal tusks by Kainzer Kurt, on Flickr Thinking of giving it the opal tusks temporarily for challenge purpose, but then eventually buy some silver wire and fashion tusks for both the nephrite and the Australian one too. Great job. Have really enjoyed watching everything you do. Time to finely comment...............................MrP

I have had bushings that would not stay in place before but the blade worked fine. Once the washers are snug against the blade the bushing doesn't matter so much...............MrP

jamesp how about doing a video of how you hammer break plates, vases and other such items, as in chickens? Want to see how you make the great shapes..................................MrP

I went to Harbor Freight to pick up one like that but they we out when I was there. I tried using a heat gun also but with the large heating area it doesn't work well on a seam. I got a 2' X 6' X 3/4" plastic cutting board at a used Restaurant Supply. The cutting board material reacts very different the pipe material. I am not sure, if because it is white, it looks like the surface is being burned but under that layer it turns clear. The black just gets glassy looking as it gets to melt temperature. The white and black seem to make a good join if you get it right but black to black is much better and easier...................................MrP

it is easy to weld 2 fittings or pipes to each other. More complicated welding a flat plate to a pipe or fitting, heating the plate just around the edge requires way higher skill woofer. Or specific tooling. How about making an iron ring the diameter you want and setting it on top of a hot plate? set it for the exact temperature you desire, set the HDPE plate on top. Good idea-----------------------if you can cut and weld like jamesp................................MrP

jamesp You are correct about weldinf a plate on the end being more difficult. I made a tub for the Viking and the first try failed. I heated the whole plate but could not get an even enough heat to make a good seal. The second end was better but still not good. I tried using a solder iron to weld the seam but also did not have good results so I ended up knocking the ends off and started over. I warmed the end plate for 15 min. then used an heat gun to heat the part that was to be welded. As you know timing is everything in plastic welding so my welds have a large bead inside the tub. I will be making barrels for the rotary and will be using end plates on those so I may learn how to do it right by the time I get to the last one...................................MrP By the way jamesp SIZE does matter!

I really do not think so. Snipers would no longer reign, more money would be spent on items, consequently more money would be made by the site. People that detest the practice, like me, ( mostly because we are not good at sniping) would come back to eBay. I would not stay around the next 15 min. to see if I need to bid again............................MrP

That is one heck of a difference!
I gave up on the Rockette 800. Can't get the rocks to roll right. The only load that worked right was the first one I ran, that is why I thought it was so great. Maybe I will give it another shot this summer when it is out in the garage but I think I will put my efforts into the Viking. With the Viking I can put any size load on it and all I have to do is adjust the off balance weights and it will do what ever I want it to. Love that machine!............................MrP
The beauty of the Vibrasonic is that it will handle more weight than most would ever want to put on it. The way to damage it is to run too little weight. So it reacts well with adding and it runs quieter since there is less spring travel. I never could get my Vibrasonic to do obsidian and glass until this reconfiguration. In fooling with this Vibrasonic and a home made unit there is a rocking point in those circular hoppers to make the rocks rotate. One thing for sure, if you move the hopper further away or closer when looking at the hopper perpendicular to the cylinder it about has to provoke rock rotation. I could only imagine that Rockette is no different. Can you put more spring hanger holes in the hopper and hang it deeper into the machine looking at the front of the machine. Or hang it more forward towards the front of the machine ? I did find a larger diameter and a bit heaver spring that it seemed to like but the damned things started eating into the hangers. When I put the original back on I felt them and there is almost no movement in the spring itself. It will work fine with the right rock and water mix but I have enough other tumblers that just plain work so why go through the bother. I don't have much for rotaries rolling at this time so I don't need it now............................MrP

Holy cow, 375F way to hot. In 10 minutes from boiling water edges started curling up and it stuck to the pan. Proper temp is 250 to 275F. Safer temp anyway. That was almost a melt down lol. OK, back down to correct temp. My weight is taming it Seeing that I think I may run a cut on one side and try to make a Viking 45lb tub.......................MrP

What size range did you receive? I'm really tempted. I'll go click a photo Rob, they look similar to Ken's sizes. Whoever broke them did pretty good. Crazy lace is tough to break to good tumble shapes. It's cold out there, this is gonna cost you $5 if you can guess what that magnet does. sorry about big files, straight off iPad and not crop. They are a bit on big side Cow?........................MrP

"I told him not to send the prototype, but he didn't listen (MEN)..." Stubborn, men ? Naw, no way MsAli . Tolerance for those lacking OK if being paid. Paid well in fact. Easier if they can't help it. If they are just plain lazy then aggravating to nth. I went out rummaging in the industrial district. More accurately dumpster diving. Can't believe I found the exact pipe I was looking for. I knocked on the door of the business and verified it was garbage, explained and perplexed the fellow telling him it's for a rock tumbler. Gave him a handful of tumbles and left him with a smile. Said pipe about 5 feet long. Fantastic! I knew it would not take long. What do you think of making one that will stand up, like a Lot-o, to set up on the Viking?.....................MrP
