Well I officially will now have to nicely end things with the guy I have gone on a few dates with. He makes Models for his "war" games? Not sure really what they are. But now all I can think of is serial killer....sigh....he was cute...... War games? He's not a serial killer. He's a nerd. Continue to date.

So now I have way more boxes of rocks than I can ever use in this lifetime. Not seeing a problem here.

Maybe more important that the mix is the sound. When you get to 500/600 and finer you don't want a bunch of (any) clunking to be heard from the barrel. Something closer to waves breaking on the shore is what I look for.
Coarse grind, go ahead and work them rocks - culls out the weak pieces. But very fine grits & polish, I baby them. Lots of cushioning. May add a little time to the run, but so be it.
George and the Bots - sounds like a name for a band.

pffft... I give up - over it - WAY past caring! Spent almost 45 minutes trying to get a decent picture. Failed. Reflections were killing me! Will try again when I don't have To Do List to tackle. The above is a close up of the following. 6 7/8 inch (best I can measure) Jasper w/ Hematite sphere. Collected in the Clearlake area in Cali. - (north of San Fran) He brought a big chunk home and shipped it off to Richardson Ranch to have them make a sphere out of it. Do they still offer that service? Anyway, big ol' sphere. Nice addition to my sphere collection. I did get others. If you don't know/collect spheres, 6 7/8" is a rather large sphere. More later. Need to take down the outside Christmas lights while I have a warm day to work outside.

I was curious 'bout sumtin' when I first watched the video above, but figured it would take awhile to know the answer. It's been awhile.
Are there no wear issues with the butt of the smaller barrel riding against the cap of the larger barrel? Seems that butt would wear the rubber cap down and the barrels might need some separation. How is that cap doing now that it has been almost a month?

Wow Bob, make the question a little difficult. Must be like a zillion places where you find red jasper and hematite *L*. All over the place in the Franciscan chert deposits including a ton of CA locations Hunters Valley, Parkfield, Coalinga, Creston, Indian Valley. Clear up the interior coast ranges to Washington state etc but I will diverge. Could be Cave Creek Jasper from AZ too.....Mel I'm gonna call that a win! Dug near Clear Lake Cali. I'll show what it is tomorrow and tell the story.

I think those are some fine looking rocks! Maybe the amethyst had a hard ride, try more cushioning. But the rest of them are quite nice. You are well on your way!!

I reckon anything is possible. people do some silly things. I've never had a problem and don't worry about it.
Around here we call it the 10% Rule. If you are 10% smarter than whatever it is you are using then you should be okay!

Home. Just a quick funny for right now (YES I scored large) I called home when I was pulling out of their driveway over there to let the wife unit know I was homeward bound and when to expect me. The boy dog was barking when I called and I asked what he was barking about.
"The mail lady is here and she is delivering boxes of rocks!"
I'm pretty sure my wife was NOT amused.
I thought that was funny as heck, but waited until I disconnected the call before I start l@ughing. (can't spell 1aughing here without getting that stoopid smiley face thing)
Another banner day. Bigger than last time. I'm beat. Not sure that I'll do pictures before Monday when She Who Must Be Ignored goes to work. Will see.

Sure hope there are more pictures coming than just that of the backside of a tent!
Be super nice to see more pictures of the show in general. Those of us that have never been or can't make it there would love to see more of what we are missing. Consider it bait for getting us out there sometime!
SHOW US THE ROCKS !!!
