You are out playing with tumblers? Isn't it like negative 240 degrees up there?
I have to go to Home Depot and can't talk myself into going outside.

Mineral specimens were, and remain, my first true rock love. Malachite is one of my top 5 favorites to collect. Picked up 3 new pieces last night, thought I'd share here. eBay pictures as I haven't received them yet. (so pictures will expire someday) All from the Congo 6 x 4.5 x almost 2 inches - just shy of 2 lbs Largest piece - 6.5 x 4.25 x 4.5 inches - almost 3 lbs back side smaller piece 4.25 x 3.5 x almost 2 inches - almost a pound Gonna have to do some display case rearranging when they arrive. Something tells me that getting another display case wouldn't go over well. I'm good at sensing such things! Anyway, I like this stuff and thought I'd post these to get out of doing a project I have to do today anyway share the pics.

Enjoying all your specimen photos. Just a suggestion, you can put them all in one thread.

My wife was against the idea, but there isn't much she can do when I go get one. How long have you been married??? She wants to make you pay for going against her wishes and hoo boy you'll pay! Kitten is so cute it will grow on her and by the end of the month she will be saying it was her idea to get it. I got a boa constrictor for Christmas when I was 10. Kinda like a kitten minus the warm & cuddly part.

I would stick with the powder polish, but was thinking that that stuff could replace the silica based ceramic media I use. Seems the AO media would lay down a polish on it's own.

Sounds like a Scott-Murray barrel. Looks like the Thumlers 15 but only half as long. Sears made a similar knock off and I believe Montgomery Ward did as well. Might keep an eye out on eBay for a used one.
If you can post a picture of the one you are trying to match up we could be sure. I may have one out in my shed, but I want to see yours to be sure it's a match. Google it to see if that's the answer.
ETA Scott-Murray also made a barrel the size of the Thumlers 15 but it was divided in half - it had two liners inside the one barrel facing opposite directions. Both ends opened to feed both barrels.

My niece had a baby girl a couple days ago. They took her home today. The cat may not approve of the competition.

Squirrels need love too!
Glad i don't live anywhere that the animal food sources get covered with snow. I'd spend a fortune feeding them!

Not to poopoo a very kind idea, but a card in a box of rocks is gonna get beat to hell. This traveling box will go to what - maybe 10 people? And, from watching how these traveling boxes play out, it will take forever to make the rounds.
No offense meant, but this idea needs some work.
No details out yet (of course) on a funeral or memorial service, but maybe something sent, as a group, to such may be the way to go? Like with SnowDog, maybe there is a favorite charity or cause? I don't know. Kinda early yet.

Wonder if they like peanut butter. The fat in it might do them some good.

Just read: U.S. Average Temperature Plummets to 11 deg. Fwww.drroyspencer.com/2018/01/u-s-average-temperature-plummets-to-11-deg-f/This morning at 7 a.m. EST, the area average temperature across the contiguous 48 states was a frigid 11 deg. F. Over 85% of the nation is below freezing, and nearly 1/3 is below 0 deg. F. The forecast is for cold air to continue to flow down out of Canada into the central and eastern U.S. for most of the coming week. I like in the comments area someone posted: "And 2018 has just been declared the warmest year on record."

Well done (again!) Rob.
I think he may have snuck something in on ya with that blue/green rock in pic #4. It's not coral and I didn't see anything like that in Zapata. Jim, that one from Texas?

The only thing that could have made your first post here better would have been pictures of your beautiful Ohio flint!
Welcome to the forum.
