Yes, the cactus is alive (I think), although we may have over watered it a little.
I think I hauled closer to 200 lbs out of the Marfa ranch, and that was after culling about 100 lbs. I've never seen so much agate.
That Mexican restaurant is quite good.
Spike, is that bluff the one near where we parked and I found the big block of sagenite?
Dang, I wish I were joining all of you! Sounds like fun!

Sorry you struck out with Teri. We made a day trip with her last year to a ranch south of Marfa. Brought home about 200 lbs. of material for $80. Stillwell is a good spot for golden moss agate; still 50 cents/pound.
Congrats on the biscuits and Woodward agate.
James: I went to the flower garden hole last spring and didn't find anything. The guy who dug it had filled in the hole and I couldn't find the seam. I was really disappointed because good flower garden is amazing.

It looked pretty fractured to me, too. Really apparent if you zoom in on the 2nd and 3rd pics.

Yes, it looks like Binghamite to me. The Binghamite with more red (or better yet, green or blue) can be valuable. I've seen slabs for $100 or more, depending on size and quality. Generally, the more quartz or hematite, the lower the value. Chatoyance should be in any of the jasper areas (yellow, red, etc.), and sometimes in the quartz.
What I've seen called Silkstone is nearly all chatoyant yellow jasper. Pietersite and Tiger Iron are close cousins to Binghamite, but I think without chatoyance.

Are cullet glass and slag glass the same thing?
Surprised the seller doesn't have a side business in colloidal silver or colon cleansing.

I can't go this year. In fact, I still haven't done much with the material I collected last year. Say "hi" to Jayson for me.
Did you lose your keys last year? I had forgotten that.
Yes, Alpine is a much better location than Stillwell. I had forgotten how long those drives can be.

The video you don't see is the one where his wife is beating him up side the head telling him to clean all the mud and sand off the floor after the barrel ruptured on the third day.

Agree it looks like chalcopyrite, but also looks like some lepidolite I picked up in the Black Hills.

I've used them. Prices were good, service was slow. I had a hard time connecting to the company via phone. The company was purchased from the founders in the last few years.

Look at your history to find the right page and copy the URL, then go to the top left corner of your browser window where it says "Firefox". Click on that and click Options. Click on General and look for the section that says Startup and paste the URL into the Home Page box, then save it.
PM me if you have more questions.

The point of the movie (and the book) is to provoke the very reaction that Mel had. It's a cautionary tale about desensitization and dehumanization, especially in the era of "reality tv" and George Orwell's "1984" becoming more real than fantasy.
In many ways, it's a modern telling of Jonathan Swift's "A Modest Proposal".

James, I'd be happy to cab some of your coral if you're still looking for cabbers. Unfortunately, I won't have time for a while.

Some of those pieces look really nice already. It'll be interesting to see what cooking does to them.

Very nice! I've never worked red ribbon, so I have to ask: is the difference due to the orientation of the cut?
