A couple pics of the maters. This past weekend some of these went to Houston,Conroe,Austin,Dallas, and some to South Carolina. They get around! Usually play out around the first of July, but with all the rain and cooler temps,a little longer this year. snuffy

Can't beat canned tomatoes, makes the food taste so much better than the store bought-Thumbs up My kids try to make chilis and stews and say they don't taste like mine.I tell them they wont because of the home canned tomatoes. snuffy

What to do to prevent blossom end rot snuffy ? I made my soil with 41 years of hauling leaves and letting them rot,200 to 400 bags from curbside in town every year. Must be well balanced with minerals I suppose that prevents it.I am fanatical about my garden. snuffy

Well,I got 3.5 inches out of the tropical storm Bill. Total of 5.3 the last week. Probably be much rain out of it as it moves up the country.Around Dallas now. snuffy Possibility of getting blossom end rot ? Cracked maters ? Noticed some cracking this morning.Never a problem with blossom end rot.Bulk of crop made now anyway, tired of canning and picking and giving them away anyhow.Good crop this year. snuffy

Chuck my 12 pound Lortone won't start up when the power goes off. It's thunder season now and I think I will have to shut it off. I tried adjusting the belt and always keep it lubed. My 12 lb lortones do the same if power goes off.Have to spin by hand to get going. snuffy

hmm, the Onion is known for it's silly pieces written tongue-in-cheek "news style". I should maybe have put a little note in my post. Meant to be a joke. This!! Did anyone take the Onion seriously?? A couple years ago we had a laugh on here about the article. snuffy

I've been dressing the blade every time I re-clamp a rock. Seriously? Why? How long does your dressing process take you each time? Sitting here trying to recall if I have EVER dressed a blade. uh... no. I've cut for about 6 years now, many slabs.I have never dressed a blade either, well,to edit, maybe I have.Every now and then will switch to cutting obsidian for a while, guess that is dressing the blade. Did cut a brick one time. How are you dressing yours? When the split pliers start slipping on mine, thats when I go to the obsidian. snuffy

I have been leery of cutting other peoples material. One mess up and a $200-$300 saw blade ruined makes for a bad day!On my own material would still hurt, but someone elses would really suck.Thats just me.

Something to ponder.
35 TRILLION gallons of water is estimated to have fallen in May in Texas. Enough to cover the entire state of Texas with 8 inches of water.May aint over yet either!

If you haven't already, try giving up all grains. The pain and 15 more pounds will disappear. Man did not evolve eating grass seeds. I went on a low carb diet almost 2 years ago.No grains, sugar religiously for a year and a half. Lost 40 lbs, felt like a new person.Have incorporated a little bit of grains and sugar every now and then, but agree with you on the grains. snuffy

Well, heck Jim, our own government helps other countries while ignoring or dragging out forever help for our own folks. Got another 2-3 inches here last night. Worse lightning and thunder we've ever had. So many ground strikes it felt like the limestone walls were gonna get shaken off the house. Ole Ma Nature is having her a good ole time this year. Snuffy, you guys make it through OK out your way?....Mel Yeah Mel,it kinda broke apart as it got here.Only .70 inch . snuffy

Hang on to yore hats boyos. Another bad ole storm is just west of us in Junction right now and building fast. Looks like it will hit around midnight and be a real rock and roller. Thunderheads to 56,000 feet, hail, dangerous lightning and apparently it's sucking in still more stuff from the SW over Mexico. Looks like canceled horse rides again this weekend. Snuffy, get out yore waterwings....Mel Been watching it Mel.2 OR 3 am here probably! snuffy

It has been raining almost every day, have never had a spring this wet before.Luckily I've been able to get some fruits and veggies to eat. Have to give Scott credit for this. His pic of a Santa Rosa plum made my mouth water and I made an area for these. Planted in Jan.2014 Methley plum.Notice the bird netting.Had to put it over my fruit and berries. Thornless blackberries.Never realized the pleasure of picking berries and not getting stuck. Cucumbers on trellis. Some are 7 feet up now, will be picking over my head.Beats stooping. My Celebrity variety of tomatoes. Sweet 100 and Porters have taken over my beds in this part of the garden. Early Girl variety tomato. These were planted in last years rotted grass clippings. Dill around a peach tree I planted in January of this year. Love to play with my bamboo! These will be covered with various varieties of gourds, along with the cucumbers. Enough for now. Thanks for looking. snuffy

I fill my Lotos completely with all it will hold without pushing the top off, then tape the top to make sure it isn't pushed off.
