Thanks for starting this thread, Grant! I can't wait to see the amazing pictures that will be posted here. Here are 3 of my first macros. All 3 are crazy lace. The first 2 show an area about 1/4 to 1/2 inch wide. The rock in the last picture is zoomed out much more, but the entire rock is less than an inch in any one direction. I need to get more tumbles done so I can get more pictures! Can't beat good crazy lace for hot macro shots! Love the little dots and layers. Keep it up, I love seeing the down and dirty details you don't get to see in 'regular' pics..

That material is gorgeous! Mexico and Texas have some beautiful material that is often the most difficult to tumble, but if you can somehow make it happen, you've done something to be proud of. Once you nail it, you can enjoy it for the next 250 million years...it's not going anywhere. Thanks for sharing, great stuff!

Just to clarify, are we doing macro rock shots, or macro shots of anything? Guess I'll get these in before the answer

Sweet! There is a lot of fun to be had with a saw like that and a bucket of little cutters. Definitely stand behind it. If you have the room to throw a little rooster tail, go ahead and clamp a hose directly into that water reservoir. No more worries about going dry, that's for sure. Happy cutting!

Very nice! We love rock magnets around here, too. Thin slices of that West Texas material is perfect for interesting fridge art. I donated a bunch to my boys' science teachers to give out when they were studying geology. Back in the day when they used to leave the house to go to school.

I was watching barrel to the right in the slow-mo video and was staring at it very intently. I then glanced at the top video (which was paused in its start position) and there was an optical illusion of the barrel in the top video going backwards - even though it was stopped! I tried it several times and it worked for me every time. (Just thought I'd share that! LOL) Playing tricks with my head. Scary how easily our minds are fooled.

Hahaha, you're the best, Grant. I love that stone! The detail in the third pic is great; macro is so cool. Glad you have a new toy and the opportunity to experiment. I look forward to seeing your new pics!

You seem to have what it takes to do this at a high level. You've tackled more complicated wraps than most would ever consider right out of the gate. Some good advice on here and it looks like it has been well received. I expect we'll see what appears to be a time lapse video of your progress over the next week or two.

Another guitar song for the heartland crowd. John Mellencamp. Johnny Cougar. John Cougar. John Cougar Mellencamp. John Mellencamp. Full circle.

Saw another Yes song on here the other day, but this is my favorite on the album.
