Buy the saw. Worry about the details later.

LOL.
So did anyone catch the "I don't have time" and "I spent the day in the woods" ? Mushroom hunting is just an activity that is a must. Been looking for them since I was old enough to walk. Not too many snakes right here in this particular area, they are here but not a lot. I often get yelled at for picking up the big black snakes by the tail that around 5' long when they are in the yard by the tail and slinging them across the road. Apparently my bad dogs have had run ins they just sit there and watch and won't have anything to do with them.

Kinda reminds me of a job I screwed up one time thinking I could replace one 16" pipe with 2 8" pipes. Wrong. LOL. I knew better but it was just one of those things.

Thanks!
Hi Bill I am in Kansas, app. 50 miles west of KC. I live in the country and luckily we have some main spots within walking distance. It was debatable as to how this year would turn out, this is the week for here. We found them several days ago but I can tell by the growth in the woods and other things like apple trees blooming when they are going to hit.
There's other tricks, I picked areas hit by the sun, remote, and mostly on the east side of the creek.
I know hunting times vary state to state. I'll probably go one last time tomorrow but all week should be good. The undergrowth is getting very tall now.
I prefer to batter and fry them, the neighbors are a little higher on the social scale and had a chef come out and cook them for them.

No, sorry not bigfoot. I do however have a good friend that's an avid bigfoot freak. Seems signs are plentiful after about 12 beers. I'm not sure how anyone can get that stupid off beer but then again maybe my tolerance is just too high lol. At any rate this was the first find of mushrooms this am, almost a couple dz and that is a 12" saw blade for size comparison. I gave these to the neighbors as we've already ate around 3-4 dozen off their property and they like to have enough for one meal and this batch will make a lot actually. Also.......here is my hillbilly friend in my shop who is proudly displaying this years 'biggest' winner---as of now---that he found. I went again this afternoon and I choose places that are hard to access and use a 4 wheeler. I probably found an additional 75 or so this afternoon and will be shipping them to my sisterinlaw in the am. Last but not least is a pic of a couple of benches I built last night and this am that are in the upstairs loft area of my barn. This part of the loft was extended thus the extra clean ceiling fan that prior was 15' off the ground. I have a ton of stuff to unpack and somewhat organize. Don't really have time for it but it's a start and I needed the benches first. Excuse the super large pics lol, I am beat spent the entire day in the woods and wouldn't you know I haven't used photobucket in awhile and they changed the format and that is enough of a challenge for me right now.

Holy cow........got some extra time on your hands? LOL. Considering I have built simple machine parts using a piece of granite as a surface plate I think it's safe to say it's flat enough for a rock lol. Of course I was using it in a different way with die and scrappers to mark low and high spots. My biggest concern wouldn't be that the granite isn't flat enough but your ability to apply even pressure and avoid rounded edges etc or lopsides. Honestly I don't think id worry too much, test fit if it fits ok then glue them together and go with it your too far along to turn back now. I like the colors if you get the sphere cut without it flying apart post pics.

They're all liars. The cream of the crop always rises to the top. Whereby cream refers to habitual liars, sociopaths etc. Now they come right out and say when the truth is too ugly that they will lie. Personally I hope that tshtf sooner than later im tired of the suspense.

When everyone is broke this is what happens. Gov'ts will tax everyone straight to tent city to keep doing business as usual. They are the only ones with the power to do so. Don't want to cooperate? We'll just sell your house at tax auction to the next owner. Oops I meant renter. It's not going to get any better it's all downhill from here.

Our new gun law in Kansas isn't going over so well: libertyfirewall.com/2013/05/05/kansas-federal-agents-may-be-shot/I love the federal agents may be shot part. I don't know about the rest of kansas but we are loaded up out here where I live not uncommon for one household to have 10+ guns. I'm not putting up with an BS from the federal level and that's all there is to it.

It sucks here in KS as well, snow and everything else last week and it was the 4th time before that happened that I said this will surely be the last. I didn't say it last week. Now I have a mud garden, foot tall grass too wet to mow etc. Peach trees were in full bloom during frost and snow. I've seen them pull threw before we'll see. Haven't seen my bleeding heart come up it got clobbered in the drought last year I couldn't keep up. This week 70's and sunny(what is sunny anyway?) and tons of potential rain and storms.
Seriously considering calling the sisterinlaw in Florida and ask if they're hiring.

That sounds like almost as much fun when the mayor and his buddies came into a restaurant/bar in Kansas City and made the mistake of sitting down next to me and my drunk buddy. They weren't there long.

I'm lucky, I get to practice often. No sharpshooter but I could easily take on a couple robbers with my 10 rounds and lever action no problem. Of course ill be grabbing the glock that's bedside lol. Just for the record I hate glocks. But they do the job.

Wouldn't you know the criminal idiot Holder has declared our new gun law in KS unconstitutional. Nevermind him and Obama were the ones that armed the mexican rebels. I am convinced some really bad things are coming that require them to have the guns.

Actually Daniel bring a 5 gallon bucket and I don't want trades lol. I have several boxes of supplies from a jeweler I bought years ago, some of which I haven't even been thru. I plan on building a good sized bench upstairs fairly soon we could dump all this stuff out and since I know squat about that end of the hobby you could explain what's what and what you would and wouldn't keep. I need to get this stuff sorted it's piling up and also have boxes of rocks to go thru. Nothing that could get done in 1 day.

Cool. Never hurts to have that stuff around lol. I'm always dragging home something or other. Might come a time when you 'have' to use it.

I have a tendency to overbuild, of course if you do it yourself you can afford to do that. I like 10ga.
As far as building vs. buying you will be shocked at how much $ it will cost you to build one esp if you can't weld. The other problem is will it actually work? Without a basic design and dimensions it will be a lengthy project.
Look for used and make sure it's worth buying. You can wrap up $1000 in a homemade saw fast. I just seen a 24" HP go for that.
