It is in the post and should be here by Thursday / Friday... Just which Thursday / Friday wasn't made clear! It arrived yesterday. My wife was in all morning but got called in to work - so the mail service (strictly speaking 'Royal Mail' but there was nothing royal about this service) left it outside Luckily its a good neighbourhood. Now to get to grips with it all. Pics later.

For Flickr links From Flickr image click Share then BBCode Choose your size Copy the URL Back in RTH Click Insert Image Paste the link in Image URL: Edit it just to show the image URL thus: c3.staticflickr.com/6/5827/30597217426_5c9259d02f_z.jpgAdd an Alt text for good HTML Standards Easy does it... Thanks for the detailed instructions! I'll see if I can understand them with my next photo post. What is the "BBCode" and what URL do you copy if it is not the "copy link location" URL. I am not sure where the "Share" comes into it either. I've never seen that on flickr -- which is not to say it is not somewhere. I hate these "intuitive" interfaces. I guess I might just be too dense for photo-sharing on RTH.... When you view an image in Flickr, at the right hand side of the screen, there is an arrow pointing to the right (there's another points down). This is 'Share' BBCode is for Bulletin Boards (such as Rock Tumbling Hobby) to which you are going to post - it is just to identify which code type you need. A window opens with Share Embed BBCode. BBCode should be underlined. There is only one URL beginning [url=https//flic.kr ... and a drop down box for different sizes. You can change the size and the URL will change, but there is still only one visible URL at a time. HTH

Congrats on the purchase. Different speeds / grades seem to suit different stones imho... Slow for harder stones; fine for softer.

I'm not sure the Mexico location is a geode, but then I'm not sure its not! The Spanish site is very clearly a geode. Very clearly? When is a geode to big and becomes a crystal cave? What defines a geode when very large? Btw, love it, I don't care what u call it!!! You need to tear yourself away from the amazing photos. See link in OP: Schematic sketch of the geode and its dimensions

I'm as far from expert as can get, but it looks like quartzite to me. Calcite will fizz when a drop of vinegar is applied. x2 ^That^

I thought the bails were low profile and fit in with the overall design of the piece very well. That said, my last fancy bail went pear-shaped twice and then I settled for something simpler ...

Looks more like conglomerate to me. I've never seen concrete composed with stones that large. It would be typical of concrete used in coastal settings i.e. beach / sea defences especially where flint would be plentiful locally in order to reduce the cost / transport effort and there would certainly be no reduction in strength with flint embedded!

Not everyone can go to those places. I was merely offering another alternative that the general public has access to. I'm not sure the Mexico location is a geode, but then I'm not sure its not! The Spanish site is very clearly a geode.

Many many beautiful cabs. Amazing finish on the spectrolite (and rather better finish than my Aus Variscite). What was your finishing compound if you don't mind?

Good for you! : ) Now show us your stuff! It is in the post and should be here by Thursday / Friday. I was outbid, but the winner didn't have the stomach for it, luckily for me! Given the extras inc around 1/2 dozen laps some synth, rough and the seller's good will, I thought it was worth the price. The learning curve starts here, I feel!

After deciding on the direction I would like to go, facetting, over a year ago, I have scoured the various boards for a (secondhand) facetter without success or at least without my decisive commitment. At least that is I found a basic facetter a while back but it was only up to amateur and not pro-standard cutting. I decided to hold onto my cash and continue to look. After failing in an online auction earlier, I've been given a second chance offer. Whilst this is at the level of my max bid, it is a really fair price considering how little use the kit has and the number of laps that come with it. To cut a long story short, I've saved the cash and done the deal: a facetron.
