Cool. Is that a 12" Lortone? It is a 10", I believe it is a ST 10 model, I see some people listing them as a LS10. I need to research a little more. I had one of these long ago, they are good cutting saws for the smalls.

this is for sure I was there ! mostly Haha mohs .... Sounds like we are both right. I never been to this show, might have to go out there and check it out. I have been thinking about joining a hounding club again, hopefully I don't live to far east for a west valley club. Thank Lee for the info on the club, laid back and minimum politics is good.

Not really sure how old it is (maybe 80's); However the company did have to go into their archives to provide me instructions on it. I picked it up from my Dad's friend last Sunday. In order to take the saw, I also "had" to take a like-branded 10" trim saw.
Nice score!

Here is a cute little 10" vib lap sold by Sears I picked up this last weekend on a package deal. It looks practically brand new.

KILLER as always Brian. I would love to see the rock garden at your cabin, all that moss. 😍
If you need help with your 18, let me know.

What I researched long ago, they charge by the square inch, laying the slab on a quilting measuring square and see how many boxes the slab covers. I don't recall the price, somewhere between 0.25 to 0.5 cents per square. Most places had a handful of materials they would not cut due to the mess, marble, red jasper, hematite....
By my calculations at the time, not worth dealing with for me. The cost of a good blade, the oil, it do not make financial sense. If, you can have multiple saws running at the same time, you might make more then minimum wage.
Good luck.

Try cleaning the arbor shaft better, there appears to be a lot of paint on it still. See if you can clean the section between the collar and the bearing, then tap the collar towards the bearing and thoroughly clean the arbor all the way down to the ends of the threads. If you see any nick's in the shaft, file them smooth.
You could always try wedging two large screw drivers between the bearing and the collar to persuade it down the threaded areas. Addition heat with the torch may work as well.

The ring is called a locking collar. Heat this up, not the threads, do not get it red hot.

Heat it up with a propane torch, occasionally turning the arbor. Should slide off after a few minutes.

Definitely Ideal/Mojave industries guts. Probably a kit saw or small company like Royal using someone else's insides. Nice saw.

Looks like a Ringleader to me too. I'm guessing the far left wheel is an 80 and the one on the right a 220. Crystallite wheels last forever, and cut super fast. I hope you enjoy your new machine. One would expect 80/220 grit wheels. However, both sides actually have 100-grit Crystalite Turbine Wheels. I ordered a 220-grit wheel from Baltic Abrasives which arrived a couple days ago. It looks very high quality. I haven't been able to try it out yet though because the motor of my machine burned out between when I placed the order and when the product arrived.Total bummer! I am not sure where to find an affordable replacement motor, or exactly what kind(s) of motor(s) would work. I would check you start capacitor on motor, most likely culprit for the motor not working. It will be buried in the base, should be able to find a replacement cap on Ebay or Amazon for ~$40. That motor will be expensive to replace new.
