I never weigh any of my rocks. I put the rocks in the Lot-O barrel and then add ceramics to fill it up. Same here LOL Just gotta fill that barrel as full as ya can with the obsidian and it comes out so beautifully!!!!!

Hi everyone!
I went back to Plush Oregon last weekend to look for some more sunstones...left on a Thursday and drove all the way to Plush I visited the spectrum mines where I did the belt run and did some freestyle digging at their pit. during the AM hours I walked all around the surrounding area and picked up more sunstones that way. I also visited the Double Eagle mine where I screened from a pile of virgin ore for about 6 hours or so. both crews at these mines were very friendly and goes out of their way to make sure your experience is a good one...I did very well this trip...almost 14 lbs of sunstones total....I picked out the largest crystals from the lot cause they are easier to picked out but still have majority of the crystals to go through...I found lots of shiller from the spectrum mine this trip...I would say 15 to mebbe 20 percent were colored crystals from that mine...on the way back i stopped at crater lake in Klamath falls to relax and take in the views...incredible countryside out there!!! anywho...enjoy the pictures...hopefully someday some fellow rockhounders from this forum will join me on these trips!!!
I am up for a trip this coming spring, but would require that you pick me and my wheelchair up in Idaho to go with you LOL from the spectrum mine I still have to go thru these almost 10 lbs to go
best ones I've sorted so far..almost 1400 cts
largest crystal from spectrum mines
5 of the largest crystals from spectrum
from the double eagle...almost 3 lbs
largest crystals from the trip was from the double eagle...the mine owner appraised it to cut into a 10-15 carat stone if I have it faceted
largest shiller from the spectrum mine
the following pictures are of crater lake..aside from rockhounding the other hobby I have is photography...
view of mt Shasta
that's all folks! thank you for looking...

Hey Jugglerguy, do you weigh your loads out, or just do like I do on the obsidian and stuff the barrel with ceramics then add the however many pieces of Ob that you are running at the time to the top of the barrel?

I just broke a spring when my fans were hit and knocked out of sync, one weight at 6 PM and the other at 10 PM, talk about some crazy vibrations LOL Damn thing was doing circles on the floor However, I was on the phone with Tom (the manufacturer) at the time of discovery and he said he was going to pop a spring kit in the mail to me that day so hopefully will have a freshly "sprung" Lot-O-Tumbler in the next few days.

Jeff, i have seen that they are VERY seasonal, when everyone is homebound during the winter months and unable to go hounding they are far stronger than during the sunny summer months. Just my observations!!!

Thanks for the comments all. Mel thought the slab might be polka dot agate - without the polka dots (there are some more dots under my thumb). And the other one might be a chert or flint That is exactly what I am thinking the slab is as well. Fabulous tumble there, Todd!!!!
