They look cool! Are the fractures healed? It almost makes me feel like it is a rocky butte. Did you collect it yourself?

Great batch! I have so many preforms and so little time! I love getting them cut out so when I am ready to cab, I have everything ready to go. With winter coming, it is good to get stocked up! Fran

Donnie,
The one thing I have noticed about quartz is that it can get tiny chips out of it in the finer grinds from too heavy pressure on the wheels. They are hard to see but you will never get a good polish. Try taking them back to 600 and work forward with a light hand. When you think it is ready to move forward, go another round all over the cab. When you get to polish, it should look fine and glassy. Also, with rutilated, you can have some of the rutiles pull out in polishing and that can create problems as well. I tend to polish quartz a little longer but I don't let it heat up as much if it has any inclusions in it. That seems to be when you get a lot of pulling and fracturing. Just run it a little while on the pad and pull it off when it starts to get hot to let it cool then do it again and again. Hope that helps.

Went to mount these cabs in the findings I had gotten for them and broke not one but 2 prongs. Decided it just wasn't meant to be and needed to finish these for someone. Finally had to glue on bails but I think they look nice anyway. He loved them! Will be giving them to his wife this weekend for their anniversary. Never can get lapis to show up as pretty as it is but you get the picture. Thanks for looking, Fran

OK, that is a first and an itty bitty one at that! You did a great job! I love my geni too! Had an inland flat lap first and still use it for finishing off preform shapes before cabbing but that is about all it is good for now. Beautiful cab! Fran

Great batch Tony! Your candy corn is perfect for the season and I think that may be turq on the bottom. I have had some bleed gray depending on the metal content in it. Fran
