Yes jamesp this one is way to "oregon-like" to be found this side of the divide....love the surprises. nowyo next season you should come this way and I should go that way, your finds this year look equally cool. Cheers Yeah we need to do that, although I doubt my finds are as cool as the last couple you've posted. I dropped the ball pretty bad his year what with getting sick and stuff but hopefully we've got that under control now. Russ

Nice job on those rejects. They may need counseling so they don't develop a "complex" or something.
Actually they look great.

Saw that guy on the way in but I was on my way to see someone else. Meant to go back but got distracted and forgot to do it. Obviously my loss.

Holy crap, Andy. That is all some awesome stuff. Only a few hours away. I just keep running out of day before I run out of stuff that needs to be done.

Just heard back from Larry. He'll stop by in a couple days to say hi & catch up with friends. He's been busy painting & remodeling the house. Painting the kitchen right now. I can relate, painting the house here-or was before I came in for supper. Never met Larry but he always posted some good stuff. As far as smells-I grew up on a dairy farm so I have some olfactory memories you really don't want to know about. Russ

Heh, nice report there, Jim. I forgot my camera so I'm sure glad Jim was more on the ball that day than I was. Where we were is about 8400' elevation, temp was about 80F or so, breeze 10-20 mph-just a real nice day to be out and about. We had a nice visit, got some fresh air and exercise, and even found a couple of cool rocks. I took a few crappy pictures of rocks after I got them home and rinsed of some of the loose dirt and lichens. First one up obviously isn't an agate, it's a rather interesting conglomerate that occurs in a layer I've been able to trace for about 35 miles, I'm sure it extends much further. There is another type of jasper rock associated with it-if you see the conglomerate you'll find the jasper in the immediate area. This next rock is the biggest one I hauled out that day. Couldn't help it, set it on the scale when I got home. Just over 15 lbs. Ought to be a few cabs in there. Closeup of the face. Closeup of one end. Closer view of that one. Okay, enough for now. Rockpickerforever said: Russ, glad to know your ticker is working good, and you were up to the challenge. Read more: forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/post/new/72050#ixzz3knQq1WPV Thanks. The old ticker keeps on ticking, they checked my blood pressure and I have some. My poor wife just can't catch a break. The doctor people tell me to exercise, I reckon that walking around in the mountains with a pack full of rocks should fill the bill. Someday I'll die, but I'm doing my damndest to make sure my ass isn't parked on the couch when that happens. Oh, one more. I was up there three weeks ago and took this picture on the way back down the mountain that evening. I really hate having to drive around in such ugly country to get such ugly rocks, but it is what it is. I'll make the sacrifice. Thanks for looking. Russ

That's a nice mess of rocks there, kudos. Yup, watch your step out there. It seems as though when things go to hell they usually go there right now.

Thanks. I'm going to try to get over there next week. This week is shot to hell with doctor appointments and then we have to go to Missoula this weekend. Need a bunch of that dendritic stuff, I'm thinking.
